i haven't had my bike all that long and today was only the second time i rode it to work.  this morning the weather was beautiful and i even noticed during the day how it was much nicer.  it wasn't so humid like it's been the past few weeks.  when it's time to head home i notice it's looking rather gloomy outside.  on the way home i notice lightning.  and once i'm home it starts to sprinkle, then rain, and now it's a downpour!  i'm just glad i made it home before the rain.  unfortunately hubby is on his way now and caught in the downpour and wouldn't ya know it, last weekend we went on a ride and i took his rain gear out of his saddle bags to make room for some of my stuff and i forgot to put his gear back.  i imagine there are lots of wet riders today in so cal.  the rain just came out of nowhere!

Rain, that's nothin.  I remember Valentines day back in 1990, it snowed in SD.  It didn't stick and it melted as soon as it hit the ground.

i was in the hot tub when the downpour came.  it was actually quite nice; a pleasant change from the afore-mentioned humidity of the past few weeks.

a few days after i got my first bike, a '98 gs, and was still learning to ride it, it started hailing.  i've seen that a few times in sd, but it's quite disturbing to have ice on the road when you're still learning to negotiate asphalt with only two wheels.

Ya ya quit your bickering...I have been rained on - everyday for the last 2 weeks, all 6 pairs of boots were wet at one time, there is a garbage bag protecting all my paper type material in my backpack which at one time had 2 inches of standing water, Lowes wont take back $60 of shelves I bought cos the box got soaking wet...need I go on...This all year long east coast winter is killing me...Needless to say the bike runs very very cool due to being water cooled. I am begining to think its a career.
Cool.

It must be nice for you Cali riders to have a rainy day every so often...just to break the boredom of one picture-perfect day after another.
Try the Adirondacks in April-May or Sept-Oct., when you can easily have a 30 degree F temperature swing from early morning to midday, and use ALL your gear (rain AND snow!!) the same day.

I've ridden in San Diego Co.   Niiiiiice  ;)

I don't know what the roads are like in the USA but here in Holland if it raines after it haven't rained for a couple weeks ( a miracle  :? ) it gets very slippery on the road (sometimes u can see something resembling foam on the road). But u probably knew that.
keep the shiny side up  ;)

Or try Louisiana Feb.-Oct. when it rains almost every afternoon.

k, we're a little spoiled. ;)

cgreenland - we have a hot tub too and the best time to use it is when it's raining out (which as we have determined doesn't happen that much here).  nothing like sitting in the hot tub under the patio and watching the rain!  unfortunately we haven't been able to use it much lately because it's been too hot.  we were even thinking we should just keep the temperature low and and use it as a "cold tub" for the summer.

cold tub...hmm...that's not a bad idea.  i'll have to buy lots of ice and convince my apartment-neighbors of the concept...

Strange weather...it sprinkled a bit here yesterday in the afternoon too...
Blah blah blah...

Yeah, weather can be difficult...
Often, we get a warm spell in January or so, usually right after you go to all the trouble to stud up the RM250 & drop the front end & install the rear lowering links & go to all that trouble to prepare & then, just before you go out, the weather warms up - you know, so that it's above freezing for a few days? - & they go and cancel your ice race because the lakes aren't frozen over quite thick enough to be safe.
I also often don't even plan to run the first road race of the season, in April, cuz I'm just getting to the point where I'm not as serious about my racing anymore & I just don't wanna take the chance of having to go out & try to race in a snow storm...
Ah, well, I guess some of us just aren't as hard core as we used to be...
