Hello all,

My wife and I are getting an '06 500f this week, our first bike.  We are trying to find helmets to go with the bike.  The blue on the '06 seems a bit...unique.  Darker than the cobalt or medium blue that most helmet makers seem to favor.  We would like some color on our helmets and gear, but matching up that blue seems to be a bit of a problem.  Of course the pictures on Suzuki's site show a rider with perfectly matched gear.  Do they have it made/dyed special by Shoei, etc?  Anyone else have the '06 in blue?  What colors did you choose?

Also,  I'm looking at the Joe Rocket Alter Ego jacket and pants for us.  Anyone have experience with these?

Any info would be great.

Helmet I know you said you wanted one that matched but your 1st priority should be fitment.  The first helmet I got my wife fit very well, but after 30 min's she was getting headaches from it.  Got her a new helmet no problems.

Shoei makes helmets for suzuki thats why the colors match perfectly, but they usually charge a bit more.

I have a joerocket phenoix jacket I like it, also have balistic pants they are comfy.  My wife uses the cleo jacket/ pants/ gloves she likes them.  But some people have had problems with the qauality of the Joe Rocket product line, particularly with the stitching.

Your getting a great bike hope you and the wife have some fun riding together :thumb:

Try www.newenough.com for gear they have great prices and good merchandise, look at first gear, alpinestar, or cortech even.

I've got the 06 in blue, and I don't care if it matches.

I've got a blue helmet, blue boots, blue gloves and a blue jacket.

None of them match the bike.  Matching the bike, doesn't matter.  If you're trying to get it matched you'll be along time without gear.

Buy what works and fits.  Color doesn't effect how well it works, or how well it fits.

Hipocracy.... becoming more acceptable with the more power you think you have.

I thought that one of the key indicators of a GS rider was that none of the colors or manufacturers of their gear matched.

I personally stayed with neutral colors.  Black, gray, silver....  Easy enough to get these colors, and they are okay with everything.

I found the best match for the blue 06 is the KBC VR2 legend.  It vents real well and the colors match perfectly.  Check it out. I ride with it and an Icon TiMax  in blue.

This is why I got my GS-F in black/silver, never a problem matching those colours!!!!

this is my helmet, it matches fairly well, but my gloves and jacket are a different shade of blue, i like this better because if it is all the exact same colour it doesnt look as good, in my opinion

Thanks for all of the input.  I went with a black HJC CR-15 helmet and a black Joe Rocket Alter Ego jacket.  Black is nice and neutral, and there is plenty of black on the GS as well as blue.

Plus, since my wife and I are both drivers, I don't see us only having one bike for long.  So my gear will go with whatever the next bike is as well.

Yeah 1 bike thats how we started. . .1 GS500F. . next thing  I know I was borrowing my nephew's bike so the wife and I could ride together.
Then she started on wanting a bike of her own.  Then she would change her mind and tell me to get a bike and she would keep the GS.

Then one day I walked out to the garage and crap there's 4 bikes in it

Becarful the GS is like pot . . it's the bike that opens the other doors

Oh and grats on finding gear that you and your wife likes.  Don't forget to get some pants and boots too.

When I buy gear I buy what I like and what is comfortable and offers good protection. I never know how long I will keep a bike for so don't match gear to bike. I have never even thought about if the gear will match the bike, just doesn't interest me.

Oh, and I have the alter ego.  It's good up to about 85 degrees.  However, it's classic Joe Rocket.  It's had to have its stitching repaired where it was unraveling.

The bike doesn't require a helmet, only the rider/s do. Atleast in NC that is how it is, your state may be different.  O0 ...
Cool.
