So I get home from my ride and my brother was out on his.  About 5 minutes after I got home I get a call from my bros cell... while he's in the back of a police interceptor.  Apperantly his FZ6 does 118 while cops drive by and dumps on dirt roads(even while going slow)  Now I'm not an advocate on driving stupid... anything in triple digits seems a little excessive to me but when you give the kid a ticket for driving too fast for conditions AND a speeding ticket, it just seems like a waste of paper.  But I've gotta give it to Yamaha, after that dump on a dirt road all it has to show for it are a few scratches on the plastics under the seat and on the mirror.  I had to kick him in the ass when I got there... not only cause he was doing something stupid but because he wasn't able to think clearly enough while doing it to succesfully outrun a Ford.  I mean seriously, the cop had to go from 55-60 to a dead stop then U-turn and get back to speed.  Why in the world he decided to turn onto the ONLY dirt road is beyond me.  He had another mile and a half to go and he would have been in the clear.  When you're insisting on going THAT fast, make sure you've got a clear head cause you need it.  Boy needs to think!  Anyway, lesson learned six tickets and a sprained ankle/knee and fractured wrist later.

Most folks who are thinking clearly pull over and take their lumps (in the form of whatever ticket the nice officer is inclined to give).  But that's just MY weird way of thinking... :dunno_white:

your friend's an idiot.  I'd claim the police impounded his bike and then throw it in the river.

I second the idiot comment.

Tell him, next time, STOP!!!  A ticket is cheaper than having to fix the bike...  cheaper than paying medical bills...  and DEFINITELY CHEAPER than putting friends and relatives through anguish long past the F*CKING FUNERAL!!!

that was pretty stupid. and the fz6 can do well over 118. the gs can do that. my 600rr can hit 155. do I do that on public roads? okay, I have but wont do it again. if I did get caught, I wouldnt run. too much to risk.

those two tickets sound similar but I bet one has to do with crashing, the other is a plain speeding ticket. par for the course.

Wow, not too bright eh?

If you're going to run you should do it wisely. (Granted if you're running you're not being to wise.)

You first weigh your opponent.

Ford Crown Victoria driven by copper
Strengths:
Quick for a big car
Has Motorola
Cops train for this
4 wheels = stability

Weaknesses:
0-60 ~ 8.5 seconds
Top speed ~ 125mph
I couldn't dig up any numbers for cornering but I'm sure it's no mini cooper.

Now what does your R6 have on this?
Acceleration
Handling
Top Speed

What does it lack?
Backup
4 wheels
Possibly fuel range..... (I dunno, just tossing that one up)

So why in the name of all that is holy would you take this battle to a field where you are at a distinct disadvantage? You throw away all of your advantages and play to the one MAJOR advantage (besides motorola) the cop has?!?  4 wheels!

My choice? 118mph? Pin it and find redline in sixth! If you're going to be foolish don't be a retard about it.

BTW everyone he said SIX tickets, not two.
Rich, RIP.

Police interceptors govern out at 134mph and weigh close to 4000lbs dry.  Flying tanks.

pantablo

but they have radios. so they dont need to go faster than 134...

134 is plenty fast enough to catch most bikes in most situations.

pantablo

right, but they have radios...so they dont need to go that fast. they outnumber the rider.

Yeah... the not too bright, I agree.  Wasn't the smartest thing he's ever done granted.  Pretty shitty non-the-less.  One part bothers me though, he was put under arrest yet was never read his rights... I'm not sure if they can do that or not with traffic violations but two of them were misdemeanors so I'd imagine they may be obligated to.  Either way he's pretty well screwed. :cookoo:

I like how the cop is in the wrong ??? Your brother could have killed himself or even worse someone else. I agree writing the ticket was a waste of paper.. He should have just cut up his licence  :cookoo:

And as far as being read his rights  :flipoff: prove it. Hes lucky those are the only charges he got.. I would add Evading, wreakless driving, disorderly conduct, speeding and .....

Trying to out run the police is one of the dumbest things you can do on a bike.

The cop wasn't in the wrong... I never said he was.  My brother IS, afterall, 20 years old with a damn fast bike.  Too much motor... not enough brains.  The total of tickets was 6, including failure to comply & wreakless driving.  And come on... like everyone here hasn't done something stupid, got called on it and thought they were justified, even if it was something little!..  I tend not to trust anyone who says they havn't.  I was just sharing a shitty night, thats all.

Yeah...  My buddy in Spokane just got arrested for reckless...  90-100 in a 60.

Bike impounded, night in jail, bail money, fees, court, hit to his record, etc...

But, he was smart enough to pull over and take his medicine.

They only have to read your rights when trying to get you to say something incriminating that they can't already prove.
