Buy a house, furnish it.  Buy another house, and furnish it for me, with lots of MotoGP racing posters, Ducati posters, and girly posters, so when I can't get any sleep, or am dissrepected, or can't stand the cigarette smoke, I can go there, have a beer and smoke a cigar.  Also, it'll be the perfect place to work on my bikes in peace and quiet.  Or, rock out to an '80's big-hair band and work on my bikes.

~ 1990 GS500E Project bike ~ Frame up restoration ~ Yosh exhaust, 89 clipons, ...more to come...

~ 98 Shadow ACE 750 ~ Black Straight Pipes ~ UNI Filter ~ Dyno Jet Stage 1 ~ Sissy Bar ~

250 GS' would cost 1.25mil, the speeding tickets alone for such an endeavor would cost .25mil.

Get a bigger house, get a condo in Hawaii, a sportscar, plastic surgery...invest the rest

I'd buy a moderate sized house, furnish it (but not extravagently), buy a minimum of 2 bikes and a decent used car, then invest the rest. I've thought about this before and I couldn't bring myself to just blow it all :)

I wouldn't touch the original million.  Put half of it into a solid-performing mutual fund and the other half into municipal bonds (for the tax break) and live off the interest.  I would look for a mortgage rate lower than the return on my investments and finance my dream home, which I would spend a year building myself.  Then I'd quit my job and go to law school.

Ok Tad.........you asked...........let me see if I can "break it down" for ya................
First of all........if you "acquired" a million dollars, you DO KNOW that "the Government" would be on your ass like stink on caca. Let's see.
First of all, you will have to give up approx. (I said approx--cut me a break) 33.3333 %.
Now that leaves us with $666,667.00 dollars. Now.
I would take $500,000 (you asked me), and "I" would split it into 5 pieces of 100K and put all 5 into 5 separate FDIC insured (not that if the world came to an end you get it back but fairly safe) CD accounts that would yield the highest. Usually, at this time in our lives that'd be about 4 or so percent. This is a pitable interest rate but safe and "flowing".  All these will give me approx. 4% of $500K per year. This equals $20K dollars a year never touching the principal. It also means
$1667.00 per month forever so to speak.
Now. We have 166,667 dollars left from the beginning. I would take $66,667 approx. and buy some land and build a tiny cabin in a state that had little or NO property taxes. With the remaining $100K I would place it in an interest bearing checking account and buy only what I
needed. Remember. You will STILL have to PAY TAXES on your income............AND property taxes perhaps. So what does all this mean?
You have $1667 a month minus taxes to live on.
You have $100K in an interest bearing checking account that you have to pay taxes on any interest.
In short you have enough to not work but live a VERY MODEST LIFE.
If you "fuckup" and spend too much you'll have to work again.
If your lifestyle is a large house and family and 2 cars, boat, motorcycle........
A "sudden" "million dollars" will NEVER do.........
EVER...............
....in 1955 a dollar was worth 100 cents. Today it is worth less than 20 cents.
You'd have to have at LEAST FIVE MILLION DOLLARS TODAY to have the buying power that one had when a dollar was worth a dollar. Keep working............:)
Taxes are Good. Millions that have been on Welfare for the last 30 years are depending on you. Also Millions that are coming over the border each year are depending on YOU.
Also taxes will fix our shitty schools and roads that have been broken for 40+ years.

You really don't get it do you???

pantablo

actually I figured it out to $6M but thats the upper middle class neighborhood I live in (Los Angeles CA), and thats building a 2500 sf house from scratch...

good overall strategy though. Kudos.

Thank you Pantablo............we finally came close to agreeing on something. hahahahahah.
Actually the dollar is worth a bit less that 20 cents and I was figuring on living in podunk Mississippi or Pocatello, Idaho. A million bucks ain't worth much these days and that's a damn
shame. Thank you. Wilson

Tadd........................that estimate was for a "safe" existence. If you are going to have black leathered strumpets swinging from the chandeliers and drinking Dom Peringnon, then it won't go
far at all. You must have patience and restraint. The flesh is weak. For 10% I'll be "your advisor".
hahahahahaahaa :) Wilson

Buy a Brand new bike of some sort and live off the interest.

(Interest at like 5% would be 50,000 a year....)
Rich, RIP.

Old Mr. Wilson

Tad my man. Meaning no disrespect, but the ONLY independent film company you could start up would be local. You'd HAVE to KNOW someone "in the business". "They" would want some of that "good faith" money. The pseudo-Jews (false Jews) have the film industry down pat lock stock and barrel. Even the porn industry. They are a Cartel much like the Mafia. Yes,.........it's true. "They" would have you bent over a stump and raping you with a rusty wood rasp in no time........trying to get every last penny out of you while stealing your art, your work, your ideas. They are above nothing when it comes to money. Don't believe me? I can give you mountains of evidence. Be wary my GS friend. Uncle Wilson is just trying to help you.
