My RPM gauge light is out and I want to replace it. I would like to go with the LED but I am not sure what the part number is or how many I need. I have an 04 and any help would be very nice. Thanks.

You need a type 168 or 194 bulb, one for each gauge.  You can use any color you like.  I strongly suggest that because LEDs are so directional that you use wide angle bulbs for the gauges that have 1 LED facing forward and 4 LEDS pointing in opposite directions.  I got mine here

I ordered the LED lights for both gauges. How does the RPM and Speedometer come out?

Here's an exploded view, thanks to BikeBandit.com:

Disconnect Speedometer & Tach cables, (27 & 20), find the two instrument cluster mounting bolts & remove the nuts (19), and the assembly comes off.  Undo the cap nuts (9) and you can get at the instruments themselves.

As for LED's to buy, check out my Dashboard is now All LED post.

What type of screw is holding the trip meter knob in? I cannot get mine out, no matter what screwdriver I use... I have LEDs for the two gauges, will look at making the warning light LEDs too now!

I've never removed my odometer reset knob -- just worked around it.  According to the exploded view there's a phillips-head screw up the middle of the knob (on my 2001 version at least).

It's a phillip's head. VERY tiny one. IIRC you don't need to take it off to remove the speedo. If I'm wrong and you do, go buy a jeweler's set of screwdrivers. Good luck mate  :thumb:

I'm pretty sure I had to remove the screw to get mine out, but I may have just taken it out because it was easy enough to do and didn't feel like fighting with it.

But yeah, you need a small phillips head screw driver.  I used a regular small screw driver, but a jeweler screw driver would work too.

One thing I will add, you should use some loc-tite on the screw when you put it back it otherwise it may vibrate out and you'll lose your knob. (and what guy wants to lose his knob?)

I lost the knob and screw so had to buy them (I get weekly packages from bike bandit haha).

I ended up buying a #0000 screwdriver at Sears - first perfectly and it also fits the screws that hold the seat lock assembly together.  Good addition to my toolbox.  The screwdriver was $2.50.

I just had this whole thing apart yesterday to paint the housing.  Now I need to order bulbs :)
