???? have you not looked at your faring ? i know the screws for the windsheild are not normal they just have a rubber boot they widen as you tighten them to keep it in place .. or thats how it seems

deathlucky

That's what they're trying to tell you. They're not bolts. They do not have threads. You push them in, they expand. You pull them straight out.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

The windscreen does have threaded screws, but behind it and what holds the front fairing itself together SHOULD have the dealy's that you push in and pull out. If they don't, then it isn't stock... The only threaded screws on the front fairing should be on the windscreen.

Those vibrate loose so much and it drives me insane to hear the windscreen vibrating and rattling... Constantly tightening.

Yeah, they constantly come loose on mine, too. Mine are GETTING stripped from having to always retighten them and they're such soft pos screws so they do strip very easily... If you absolutely cannot get them out with a screwdriver, you will have to drill them out. Just start out with the smallest bit you can find and drill right through the center of it.. I actually have very little experience in drilling out stripped screws and bolts, I've always used a grinder or a dremel to CUT them off, but I wouldn't recommend bringing those tools anywhere near the fairings. :P

I ride naked so I am of no help  :dunno_white:

But for the rattling noises caused by loose screws and such, you can use the teflon tape used for air compressor threads. it will help.

cannn you get your finger on it any how ? if not you my try putting some pressure on it at an angle and then try to un do it that works some times.

could also pick up a dremel and carve a straight slot, then get the biggest flat head screwdriver you have and take them out and replace them.  I have done this many many times with other stripped phillips heads before.  Just be careful cause it would suck to hit the paint on your gs with a dremel.

Ah, that's a great idea... Much better than drilling it all the way through. I'd hate to miss my mark drilling through the fairings.

Or we could just take it to the local dealer  :flipoff: and have them do it under warranty.  it's an 06 dude, take it so they can fix it.
