I laid my bike down 2 weeks ago, and changed the oil 1 week ago.  I did my first spirited ride today (although I've driven it about 200 miles since the laydown and 100 since the oil change) and when parked I had quite an oil leak. 

It looks like it's mostly coming from the right side of the engine case, the same side the bike went down on.  Is this an involved fix?  Also, the cam chain tensioner has leaked a little ever since I bought it.  How hard of a fix is that?  Do I need to drain the oil, etc?

Any info would be great.

replaceing the gasket is a sinch  just be sure not to scratch the mating surfaces and make sure to clean them very well.

you don't have to drain the oil to remove the cam chain tensioner.  I suggest removing it , cleanning it and see if that will remedy the leak.

Errrr, the entire underside of my engine, as well as the casing is covered in oil from the ride.  Hard to narrow it down at this point I'm afraid.

One search result suggested cleaning the engine, then using talcom powder to coat it to narrow down where the leak is coming from..

I'm honestly just nervous about cracking open the engine.  I've rebuilt my carbs, done my fork seals and oil, but never played with the engine.  What's the difficulty level and expected time for gasket changes for a first timer.

Hey that was me.

If you've rebuilt your carbs, changing the gaskets is a no brainer.  especially the crank cases.  clean the bike and use the powder to find the leaks.

if it is just the crank case covers, try tightening them to spec first. that might work. of not the case gaskets are like 7$ from bike bandit.

I can walk you through it, if necessary.
