does anyone know if the standard disk locks fit the GS and if thery are even affective?  Otherwise does anyone have anything they suggest?

I don't have a disk lock, but you just have to measure the size of the holes in the GS rotor.  The locks usually come in 2 sizes.

Nothing at all will keep a motorcycle from being stolen short of you sitting on the seat 24 hours a day with a shotgun in your lap.  But a disk lock is better than nothing.

Someone stold a friend of mine's and his wife's motorcycles from a locked shed with a disk lock on the front and rear of each bike.  They broke the entire lock hasp off of the shed and backed a pickup truck to the door.  Physically picked up both bikes and put then in the bed of the truck.

Disc lock fits and works better than nothing. Cover is also a pretty good deterrent.

At home I park in back, off alley in uncovered parking space. I use a 6' cable lock through front wheel and frame, AND through grommet of cover to a eyelet I shot into concrete. They'll have to really want to steal the bike to get it. There are no guarantees but this seems to be a good way to go.

well normally I keep my bike at my moms house in the garage I was just looking for something to make me feel more comfortable when I stay at a friends house for the night or the occasional evening when I park my bike by my apartment  (I live in the south side of chicago, not the greatest place)

I got a Xena? disc lock for my birthday. It has an alarm built in that blares for 15 seconds or so if you move the bike without taking it off.

The alarm is almost useless as a deterrent as you can pretty much silence it by putting your palm over it, but it will alert you that you are about to ride off with the lock on. :) Also, I figure it will startle an amateur thief and perhaps scare them off.

I got a Krypto DFS, fits with no problems.  I also like to keep a cover over it, that tends to keep people in my apartment from messing with it to much.

hey pablo, how do u get the anchor into the concrete? i wanna drill some around my neighborhood in random places and cover it with leaves or soemthing.....for now i use a cable lock through the frame, rear wheel, and bike cover.
Don't mind me I'm just new.

Concrete drill bit then hammer in an expansion nut. Bought an eyelet that screws into expansion nut and is about 2-3" round with a threaded portion about 1.5"-2" long (standard size, guy at hardware store was saying this is a common way for guys to lock their motorcycles to...without knowing that was my intention!).

The eyelet simply screws into exp. nut and when locked up cant be screwed out because of the cable/lock.

I was looking at Krypto and they have so many options. Which do you guys think is the best way to go? It's either an alarm or a good lock.

Wow, ok, simple but awsome... I am trying to decide if I should tell my housemate... I can see him running around town with a drill and a mallet setting lockdowns for his gixxer at all our hangouts!
