So I bought a zx6r and it was running rough.  Ends up being a clogged carb and a stuck intake valve.  I didnt want to drop the engine and clean/repair the valve.  So I bought some yamaha carbon cleaner and it worked alright but the problem kept coming back.  So I got some seafoam and it worked awesome.  I poured it in all four cylinders and it it way smoother than ever before, and this was after I had used a whole can of yamaha stuff.  The yamaha stuff I guess wasnt strong enough for the carbon and junk in there but the seafoam worked like a champ.  Anyone else use seafoam?  Oh ya it was crazy, it was blowin carbon junk all out my exhaust, now the exhaust is all dirty, oh well, my bike runs now.

Well, I am cautious about using Seafoam on a bike that has carbon problems for the exact reason you listed.  It will dislodge it and can cause problems.

I use it as preventative maintenance all of the time.  My GS only has 2,900 miles on it and it has seen at least 3 cans of Seafoam in its life.  6 ounces in the gas, 2 ounces sprayed into the carbs with a spray bottle and the rest added to the oil before an oil change.

I could eat off my engine.  When I pulled the carbs to rejet, I could have brushed my hair using the reflection off of my intake valves.

Are you saying it'll make it worse somehow? :icon_confused:

I've been thinking about running some through my GS...  It's been running liike poop lately and I'm looking for an easy thing to try.........

I wouldnt think it would hurt anything when it dislodges the carbon.  Cause it all just flows out the exhaust.  And it has to break the carbon down to loosen it so if it did get lodged somewhere it would just break it down more and dislodge it till it was gone.  But I liked the idea of seafoam better than the yamaha stuff because it recommends an oil change after the use of it and spark plug change.  My plugs got fouled when I used the yamaha stuff but it runs real well after seafoam. seafoam for president....ok maybe not.

RVertigo

Yeah...  I was thinking about putting some in the oil and gas tank about 300 miles before by next "Tune Up" to make sure it's nice and cleaned out...

Kinda like eating a bran muffin.   :icon_mrgreen:

It would take 300 bowls of Super Colon Blow to equal the fiber you get from just one bowl of Sea Foam.

Educate me...whats this?

Seafoam is a cleaner, but its safe to run through the engine? How do you use it, etc...

THank you RVErtigo...so
When Added to Crankcase (Oil)

   1. Frees sticky lifters and rings
   2. Increases R.P.M.'s vacuum and compression
   3. Cleans dirty parts
   4. Removes moisture
   5. Cleans PCV valve systems

One pint treats 10 quarts of oil (avg. 1 1/2 ounce per quart).

So, 1.5 ounces per quart, right in the oil? Do you just leave it at that? Or do you have to then change the oil?

From what I've heard, you have to change the oil after XXX miles...  Something like 300?  I don't remember for sure....

Something like that...  Put it in your oil and gas that many miles before you plan to change it out, then change it all out. :thumb:

I haven't used it...  But, I think I'm gonna do it.........

I suppose you leave it in there till you change it.  Not quite sure, didnt really pay much attention because I needed to change the oil anyway because of the other cleaner I used.

I've heard lots of good things about Sea Foam, both around here and from some friends... but where the hell do you get it locally?  I went into my friendly neighborhood autopart store and asked for some and the guy had never heard of it.  Do the big chain autopart stores have it?

I picked mine up at abc auto.

papiocho

i put that stuff in the civic, all kinds of wierd things happend,
check engine light came one
found an exhaust leak or 2
found an intake leak
almost got into a fight with the a-hole at autozone for not reseting my check engine light
and the wierdo at advanced couldn't believe my car was still running with the engine missing in cyl. 1,2 and 4 but he did reset the light

and all was better, the car felt a little smoother just coasting and the engine free reved alot faster
i did the pour 1/2 the bottle into a vaccume line method

in the end its good to use i guess, the GIANT cloud of smoke that was coming from the exhaust was BAD REALLY REALLY BAD covered the entire steet . and just when i thought it was safe i drove it to autozone and then advance and cloud was even worse driving down the road. but all i well now. use at own risk i guess  :dunno_white:
