Getting passed in your own lane

I don't pass people in their lane, I pass them in MY lane...

It blows me away that people think it's all cool in a state where lane splitting is illegal and not commonplace.

People are blaming ME for not going fast enough or "Lane Hogging" in the carpool lane. :icon_rolleyes: :cookoo:

yeah they are just people that believe that they should be able to share your lane if they are on a bike cause two bikes will fit easily in one.  They are neglecting to think about what if something flew off the car or whatever in front of you and you have to manuver to miss it.  i think you are right as i am not a huge fan of lane sharing/splitting in general because if I do it some pissed off dude in a car will do something dumb on purpose and possibly hurt or kill me.  If I am on my bike they are taking my room for safe riding away and i hate that.  If i am in my truck and see them coming i will move out of the way or stay where i am at untill they pass.  but in general i don't think it is a great idea, to many risks.

Out of two pages of responsens only about 3 or 4 people complained about you.   :dunno_white: Don't see why you are upset.  I have never seen a 100% agreement post before

I know why you were mad about being passed in your own lane thats total BS without permission, not to mention the dangers it posed to you and your wife.

Posted speed limit was 60 mph (?) and you were already speeding at 70 mph.  So you were not lane hoging or holding up traffic.  Those other riders were either to lazy to move or just showing off.

I guess it IS the Internet...  People argue just 'cause they can...   :icon_confused:

I'm just mad 'cause some people are trying to make me sound like a soccer-mom in a minivan going 50 in the fast lane.

  yeah I noticed that, I love selective reading.  Alot like selective hearing and how something said can be totaly taken out of context.  Or something not said or read is implied.

Me. " Wow look at that bike, looks really nice."  Sits on bike, flips a few switches, pulls's the clutch.  " Feels real comfortable too."

Wife " No your not getting another new bike, you just got one.  Besides we still have to get the frame sliders, bar ends and rear spools"  " not to mention that we dont have room in the garage for another bike right now".

Me " WTF"  I didn't say I wanted another bike, didn't say I was going to get another bike, and I know we don't have room for another bike in the garage right now.  All I said was it was a nice bike and it felt comfortable.

I've been there so many times...  "When did I say that?!?"  I was thinking about getting a T-Shirt that says that.

I encountered a situation like that ONCE.  Kinda.  We both were stopped at a red light.  I stopped first on the right.  He stopped beside me on the left (same lane - perfectly acceptable here in MA).

I had noticed him behind me for a good mile or so.  So when the light turned green, normally first person to the line goes first, but I waved him by.  He might have been in a hurry, but he NEVER creeped up to close.

Basically, he was courteous, so I was as well.

Yeah, that has happened to me, was doing (indicated) about 90 in the Frankfurt area and they will come past pretty close on either side, even a car came by giving me about 18 inches clearance, very un-nerving.

What i find annoying is how in that thread they criticized Rvertigo for going slower than the other traffic even though they were ALL speeding anyway. WTF is up with that? how can they pick on him for going too slow when he's already speeding - maybe they should slow down if they have a problem.

In england the speed limit on motorways is 70mph and majority are three lanes, left lane is the slow lane (also the one next to the on/off ramps), middle lane is for overtaking the left lane, and the right lane is for overtaking the middle lane. First lane is usually where the lorries go as some of them are restricted top speed and plus they are just slower than cars, lorries occasionally go in the second lane to overtake slow lorries in first lane but they arn't ever in the third lane. We lane split on the motorways hardly ever. As most people observe the rules and move leftwards as soon as they have overtaken what they aimed to get past. Occasionally you get the guy who just sits in their lane and won't budge, usually inexperienced people who are scared by the traffic moving all around them so fast, others are just asses. In that case people just undertake (not technically the proper thing to do but some time it is the only thing.

The only time i ever have split lanes on a motorway or have seen it happen is when there has been an accident or something and the motorway is either going extremely slow or has stopped.

Well, at least I'm not the only one that thought some of those people were just being dicks... :icon_confused:

They seemed to totally miss the point of my post.  It wasn't about lane hogging, it was about pulling a jerk maneuver and taking up space in MY lane.  Honestly, in WA noone follows the "keep right except to pass" rule.  On my way home from Bremerton last night, I passed at least 100 cars on the right... :dunno_white:
