My old neighbor had a '69 Boss 302.  That thing hauled ass, even compared to my '75 blueprinted 454/3.73 Chevy shortbed.

I can only imagine what a skinny tired 429 with some mods and a 4-spd would do for fun.

in the mid 70's he'd get the cops chasing him

70 was about the end of the real Ford Muscle Mustangs. There's a 71 (think big square looking Mustang) rotting away a few miles from my house at, of all places, a repair shop!

I had a 69 Mach 1, 351 Windsor, automatic that we ported and polished exhaust with Hooker Headers, but kept the stock intake. Gawd I loved that car. My buddy had a straight-6 69 and we took the fold down deck from a 68 and integrated into it. You could drop an air matress into it with the trunk access door open and sleep in it.  We spend the weekends after classes working on his or my Mustang, drink beer, and then go for parts on his dad's BMW R something or another.  Not necessarily in that order. Florida had tough DUI laws even in the late 70's.
