I sold mine with a slight rip in the cover for $5.

I actually have a little hole because I punched the seat down with a key sticking out

I've seen nice ones go on ebay for $30 or so. Crummy ones for $10, plus shipping. Call your local seat place and see what they can do. The advantage of that is you can put a gell cusion or something under the cover.

You could just take off your cover and patch the hole from underneath if it's small. It's just put on with staples I think, no biggie.

I actually have some scrapes/tears on the edges as well.  I believe when I picked it up off the ground some time that I scraped it.  I'm thinking of just recovering it at this point but don't want to be seatless when I can't figure out how to get the seat restretched.

Seat cover is a plain flat sheet of vinyl ... buy some for $10 at craft store and use a hair dryer and actually sit it on a hot day in a car parked in the sun and you'll do peachy ... and use a stapler and staple to your seat.
Cool.

Sent the guy a message telling him that

A: GSs were first produced in '89, so there's no way his seat would fit an '88
B: The seat from an '89 will only fit properly up to a '00, as the '01+ bodywork/tank are different.

I forgot to include

C: His price is a ripoff and you'd have to be stupid to buy it.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

I thought so too until you look at the auction below it for $99 plus s/h and Bikebandit is something like $235 (but that's new).

I'll try that tomorrow ... maybe I can try molding the vinyl before I cut it and staple it .. that way if (when) I f%$k up, I didn't disassemble my seat.

I think I'm also going to try and reshape the padding slightly so it doesn't throw me in to the tank quite so easily.

I don't know what year you have, but

gm_joe101[at]hotmail[dot]com is parting out an '01, his seat is in good shape (I think?). If it'll work, drop him an email.

(Un)fortunately I have an 89.

You can actually put your foot on the back side and pull the cover tighter and you staple it. Actually there is a technique to putting it on.
The vinyl has a sorta differential stretchiness. Its stretches more in one direction than the other. I think you set the stretchier side length wise and the less stretchy side width ways. Staple length wise first and then do the width.
BTW check with jared. Or search FAQ or google it. Jared posted it here and I believe he's not too far from you anyway. May be worth running down there and get him to do it.
