I was thinking about putting a 98 GSX-R tail section on my 97 GS-500.. Wondering if anyone had any helpful hints or anything like that.. Ive done everything to my bike since ive had it (2 years, 7,000 miles).. I was just wondering about fitting it or if anyone has tried it before.. thanks matt..

there was i think one person that did it before, at the top of the page there is a search, type in that and it should show some threads on it. the ones i have seen on here looked ok but were well made the gs look fat and bulky. you will see but its a good mod if you do it

Welcome!  :thumb:

I haven't done the mod, but here are a couple of sites to peruse. I can't remember whether or not pablo did it:

pablo's site

sanjay's wiki
'06 SV650s (1 past Gixxer; 3 past GS500s)
I get blamed for EVERYTHING around here!

Is it just me or has someone hijacked Nick_villan post name either that or he is trying to get banned or he has just bought a Harley?
(Harley's can turn you in to a biggoted idiot) :thumb:

ive done it to my gs but i just got ridiculed on this site, i don't think it looks too bad but perhaps too fat for the gs,

pod filters, costum r6 quill exhaust(no baffles)40/140 jets, heavy duty springs, sv650 rear shock, gsxr srad tail, bandit 600 4.5 inch rim with 150 tyre, gsx twin disc front end "1995 pocket rocket"  ridden by a kiwi in scotland

Not so sure if it's the "too fat" thing. Designwise your GS just falls apart at the end of the tank. Just extending those plastics unter dthe tank until they hit the frame might help.

i can't decide if i like that or not, but really its a $300 bike its a hack and not my pride and joy, just something to get me out of the house and to get me to and from work,

lol, yep i do stuff do it because im bored, and have plenty of spare time and parts are cheap over here, got a gsx front end to go on shortly, that might make it stop a bit better,
8 pots compared to 2 gotta be good :icon_mrgreen:
