I have an '06 GS500 and I'm having a hard time finding anything for it. I realize it's a new bike so it's going to be awhile before aftermarket parts will be available but If anyone know's of a site that might have parts please let me know. What I'm looking for is carbon fiber parts: mirrors, chain guard, etc. so any help would be appreciated thanks.

there are not many aftermarket parts for this bike.

there is a Jardine full exhaust system, K&N filters, then you need to rejet.  You can go with smaller sprockets.

you are going to get this post from everyone, but Search The Forum.  EVERYONE and there mom has askled this question before, everyone is probably tired of answering this qustion, so to ake it easier on you, trust me, you will want to search this site for info.

But for starters, go with the K&N filter, Jardine Exhaust, and Jet kit....

or just do a 15 tooth front sprocket.

either of tose 2 options will be your best bet for a first mod.......  15T is the cheapest, 20 bucks for the sprocket, takes 10 min for someone to put on...  takes away a little bit of your top end, but makes your 0-60 faster...

but do earch the site...

The first thing you should do is fix the suspension.

The GSF cant be called new. Underneath the fairing and paintwork is a plain old GS500. The design of which has hardly changed since 1988 when it first came out. The engine design dates back to the 70s and the old GS400 and 425. Despite what Suzuki say about sports-styling etc its not regarded as a sports/performance bike by serious enthusiasts and you will struggle to find aftermarket accessories from any manufacturer due to a lack of demand. There is an old saying: `You cant polish a turd` I dissagree, Suzuki do it every year with the old GS. I cant think of a bike thats been in their line-up anywhere near as long.

Yeah, there isn't too much out there for the GS, but pretty much all the stuff that was made for any of the earlier models will work on the new ones. Parts that you can get include

Exhaust
Air Filters
Jets
Sprockets
Fork springs
Kattana rear shock
Better prake pads and brake lines

And that's just about it. Everything else you have to make on your own or adapt from something else. That's the fun part.  :thumb:  But don't waste your money trying to get it to go much faster, it's cheaper to buy a faster bike
Have fun

You can't polish it, but you can cover it in icing and make it look pretty, even if it would still taste like a turd. :)

Turd Ferguson

You guys forgot to capitalize the "T" in Turd.

The GS500 is a super old bike.  If there was going to be an aftermarket...it would already be here.  Its not a sport bike, so its not going to have the aftermarket that sport bikes have.  There are definitely some bitchin mods that can be done to the GS, search around.  Suspension is probably the place to start.  The factory GS suspension leaves much to be desired in the "twisties".  There are some small mods that can be done to the engine, but don't expect big results.  Maybe a few hp here and there, but nothing significant.  I personally would recommend rejetting your carbs even though your bike is stock.  You will not believe how well mannered a properly jetted GS500 is.  This is ESPECIALLY true now that colder weather is starting to set in (here in the U.S.).  Imagine not having to use the choke for 10 minutes and having a bike that doesn't chug and misfire when the temps get below friggin 80*F.  You can tell I'm not a fan of the crappy factory jetting...

Congrats on the bike and welcome!

Judging from all the recent posts about upgrading gs500F's I've concluded that the new GS500F's are a bit misleading to new comers. They are buying a bike expecting it to go fast and have substantial aftermarket support. Unfortunately most of that market is gobbled up by 600+ bikes.

In conclusion, the gs500 should be naked again :D  :thumb:
