Just purchased a 2001 GS500 with 2036 miles. Already added a couple hundred in two days. This is my first bike, and it is awesome. Thanks for all the online help. I used the site thoroughly to research the bike to buy. Thanks all.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

Some hints from one noob to another....

1. Wear your gear! Helmet, jacket, gloves, boots, pants! It saved my skin!
2. Learn to counter steer.
3. Watch the road for gravel, sand or other loose objects.
4. Never use your brakes whilst cornering, especially your front brake!!! Don't ask how I know this
5. Use search on this forum, and you can find the answers to the universe  :thumb:
6. Take a motorbike training course. The smartest thing you can do.

Have fun and Stay Upright!

I guess I never filled out any information about myself. I live in Baltimore, and work at the University of Maryland - about 35 miles. My van was costing about 75-85 dollars a week to commute...hence the purchase. I can't believe I waited until 35 to make this purchase. This is the best money I ever spent. I look forward to the end of cell phones and talk radio every mornign and afternoon.
