well, even the 650 had tons of torque, or so it felt like it...yeah, 30" inseam and that tank was massive between my legs (again, shush pandy!).

my friend had that bike and let me practice on it before and during the (multi day) msf course I took. he used to ride from los angeles to laughlin for the bike week there. his only complaint was that at freeway speeds its really working to keep up with anything going faster than about 65. I dont know how much of that was his not being comfortable at that speed mentally, or if the bike really didnt feel good at speeds faster than that. or if it really didnt have anything to give past 65. seems like it sould be good for at least 80. if he were to get it again he'd get the 1100 actually.

Check out the Hyosung (sp?) 650 cruser, they look badass, aren't too expensive ($6,000?), and supposudly haul ass. I've read some reviews online and they do pretty well. They also make a sportbike simmilar to the sv 650 for $5000.
enjoy  :2guns:

that aint bad, and they claim 70hp. that thing must haul ass.

but it doesnt look nearly as badass as the vstar ;)

*edit - it has an sv650 engine. does look cool, but its korean :P

pantablo

it has a similar engine to the sv, not the actual suzuki engine. check the magazine reviews-less than stellar on the hyosungs.

i know ive gone back and forth more then john kerry trying to find a new bike, but i think i finally have.

Its a 2005 boulevard C50, that the previous owner decked out real nice suzuki bags, sissy bar, windsheild, and lightbar. Its at a dealer in silver spring, and i was extremely impressed with how they treated me there. the guy took me thru a whole bunch of bikes i had never considered, including the c50, and i eventually landed on the used one that is set up exactly how i want it.

I am test riding it friday, and assuming it doesnt suck (which i highly doubt it will) and it doesnt get sold before then, its mine.
Only problem is, i cant really afford to keep the GS. insurance would be too high on 2 bikes, and i can use the trade in to boost up my down payment.

love the little GS, but i am just too tall for it. And forget about riding with my harley-craving girlfriend on the back. She sat on the boulevard and 100% approved, so it looks like this is the one. Now she is talking about taking the msf and buying a sportster ;)

Any oppinions/things i should know aout the C50?

Nearly every review I've read on the C50/M50 was positive... But, it's like a GS500...  It's mostly newer riders or people that don't have pee pee envy for giant engines.

Google for reviews...  There are lots floating around.

I've been drooling on an '05 M50, but it finally sold...  Good thing the Blue '07 M50 looks just as good as the '05.   :thumb:  Now, I just need to find some cash for it.

Like you I'm feeling the ending of my sport bike career :icon_razz:, almost. I sat on an s83 and there is no word to describe that feeling. Granted I could do fine with the s50, but the s83 strokes my ego more 8) + like you said the gf/wife has to be happy or I'm not happy. I've been hooked on a growling v-twin ever since that test ride.......I even planted a money tree.... O0

basicly the intruder vs1400/s83 is solid and streamline and from what I can read/research about it it handles the best in the crusier cattagory. Yea I know it won't swap ends like the GS but for those 150mile rides I'll still be functional.

Ok back to the subject. the c50 is basicly a decked out s50. GOT TO LOVE THE SHAFT DRIVE and upright position.

the SV650 insurance:
For me 21 yr old single male I got quoted for $356/yr for 250/500/250 converage. I could ramp the sv but a HD or crusier....I don't think so that's 550lbs of blood sweat and tears....My GS with same coverage was $167....currently my 92' FZR600 is $389. For kicks and further enhancement I ran a quote for an s83/s50/m50 and it ranged from $220-$259. NOT BAD AT ALL

Try Geico,

I have MD basic coverage for 133 a year. When I got a quate for the sv650, it was only 160 a year. This is liability only. The comp. was 342 / 380 per year. Don't know why such differences.

Jace009gs

becaue comp-covers you for vandolism, fire, sometimes theft, other natural uncontrolable instances in which your bike may substain damages. Depending on your deductable, if the damage exceeds that of the ductable than the insurance company pays out to you. :kiss3: U know how insurances just love to pay out big damage checks for business liabilities :haha

but yea on motorcycles Get more medical coverage than required by Maryland state law...

92 gs500 $9.90/month 03 cbr954rr $27/month $100,000 liability and comp/collision insurance $250 deductible, from state farm. Total annual cost $470

Same coverage from progessive was with $1,000 deductible and $25,000 liability was $1700 annual. Leave progressive they are a ripoff.

both my truck and wife's car are with state farm with the same coverages as the bikes for $180 per month. It's nice to be an old fart.
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.
