What are some of the main differences between these two sets of bars?  I've noticed that a fair number of people on the board have one or the other.  Are they totally different in design / feel?

I think he's still making them.  I like them because I'm a site and community supporter...the cool shaZam! from us small guys is the bomb no doubt all time.

I think it's more of a common sense thing than nerdiness...

srinath's are a lower knock off version of the sm2 bars--> lower cost, lower quality. not bad in and of themselves, just not in the same league as the SM bars. Will still get the job done.

My 4 weld's were SM knock off made frm steel instead of stainless.
My 2 welds were totally different, where I dropped the idea of having SM look alikes and just bent the center parts. The 2 welds fit the 90-00 bike like nothing else. Its actually better than 89 clip on's that they are based off ... it was better than anything I have seen on a GS. Drag bars, superbike ... whatever.
4 welds on the other hand fit the 01+ ... 2 welds did not ... the choice is limited for the 01+.
I am working on making a 4 weld type bar (will fit 01+ ) that wll actually be like nothing I have ever made, or even seen ...  ... watch this space, but its definetly comming soon.
