I hope it not sold by now
Weird thing happen, I was just look on some of the dealer around here webpages and found a 2000 GSX-R600 for $4,499.00 with 2230 miles. I think it a great deal, what do you guys think?

makenzie71

you can find newer for the same price...but if you dig it get it.  I don't know if the 2000's were EFI, though...I'd rather have an EFI model.

Look around a little more. It isn't too bad of a deal for a dealer, but it isn't a great deal.

Also, Fuel injection isn't really all that people think it is. If you read the magazine reviews of bikes that switch to fuel injection, it usually takes a few years before the injected bike performs better than the carburated one. Also if you want to do mods to it you have to buy a computer box like a power comander for several hundred bucks instead of much less for jets.

Think about the problems that we have with our carbs, many of them are due to rust, rust can still screw up injection systems, but parts are much more expensive. Some of the injected bikes have plastic tanks though so that helps.

Anyways, look around a little more before you jump on that GSXR and don't rule out carbed bikes.

...or a MakBox for much less...and is a one-time investment no matter what modifications you make...and can be used on as many bikes as you want..etc... :o

Im pretty sure the 2000 GSX-R are not FI. Yeah, Iv'e been a fan of that style GIXXER for awhile now. Im going to go talk to them tomorro.

Alphamazing

The GSX-R switched over to FI in 2003, along with the R6 and ZX-6R. Only Honda had a pre-'03 FI supersport (the F4i in '01).

You mean only Honda had a pre-'03 FI 600 supersport, right?

I consider 600s to be supersports, and 1000s to be superbikes, per AMA class titling.

not sure about AMA or anyting (other than the fact that the AMA is run by a bunch of no-ridin' boobs), but according to Suzuki the TL1000S is a supersport:

...well I was going to post a pic of the supersport graphic suzuki slapped on the tail and under the badge up front but google failed me...the TL1000R had a Superbike badge.

The the 750's were EFI from 1998

Well anyways, to add to my story
I went to the dealership that I found the 2000 GSX-R at today just to see it and run some number.
Price $4499.00
-$3000 Trade for my 2004 GS500F
-------------------
$1867.94 out of my pocket

What do you guys think? I think they give me a great deal atless on the trade in.

hmmmnz

if you can ride resonably, can hold back from doing any thing stupid before you have gotten used to it and you have the cash then go for it :D
pod filters, costum r6 quill exhaust(no baffles)40/140 jets, heavy duty springs, sv650 rear shock, gsxr srad tail, bandit 600 4.5 inch rim with 150 tyre, gsx twin disc front end "1995 pocket rocket"  ridden by a kiwi in scotland

makenzie71

ummm I'd do it just because they're going to give you market value for a trade in.

FearedGS500

yea no joke .. id just ask to test ride it first .  cuz sometimes with things sound to good to be true thats how they are :(

I paid 2700 for an 04 one year ago... maybe I should go to that dealer and make a little money.

Do it.....Do it now! Trade the GS.

Seriously if you can get 3,000 in trade for the GS do it.

No need to mod the gixxxer so don't worry about the expense of a power commander. Unlike the GS the gixxer was tuned to run right straight out the door. None of the crappy cut rate stuff like is done with the GS.
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

mountindewGS

Will guys Im tradeing in my GS for the GSXR tomorrow and I just want to say Thank for all the help you all have gave me over the years. I hope I have as much fun on the GSXR as I did on the GS. I had alot of fun on the GS and I alway try to get new riddder about it. Hopefully ill see all you guys on the road ~Chris

you've been riding a little over a year, no? I cant remember exactly...you'll like the gsxr. you getting the 600 or 750? Good luck with it. Take it easy for the first few weeks until you learn the new bike. For me it was like learning to ride all over again, but only the first couple weeks...good luck.

I think you can do better than that. And I do like my FI BTW, starts right up and no need to worry about the choke.

when I bought my bike via craigslist it was lower than the kbb/nada pricing, same thing when I sold my 85 camry, it was like 40% less than kbb/nada. Maybe because of cosmetic damage, but I think also the prices on those guides can be a bit off.

does anyone know if bikes/cars tend to appreciate or depreciate in value in smaller or larger markets? Seems like in a relatively small market like Portland, prices would go up because there's less used bikes to choose from. On the other hand, demand might be lower too. I'm confused already.
