I used liquid wrench and all my muscle but my oil drain screw wont budge! any ideas?  I thought about siphoning it but that wont probably drain all of this cruddy oil.  Second is the choke supposed to operate the butterfly valves in my carbs at all? oh and one more. can i remove my evaporation canister with out a problem?  or does my bike need it?  thanks

Hmmmm. Don't flip out or anything, but I have to ask this, you are turning it correctly aren't you? I sometimes get confused when turning bolts when they are upside down. Assuming you are doing the right thing, try using a 1/2 drive set. They tend to have longer handles and should help with the torque needed to break it loose.

There is a copper crush washer down there also...I think...maybe. Regardless it should come out with enough torque. Sounds like it was WAY overtightend.

No, the choke does not move the butterfly on the carb, it moves a plunger on the loop portion of the carb. Here's a pic of the choke cable connected on my rebuild project.

The butterflies are moved by the throttle cable that is mounted between the two carbs.

yea use a 1/2 they tend to be a bit better thats what i use .. also .. try to use the "hammer effect" on it kind of like a impact..... just bump it .. but beware you dont want ot to slip beacuse if it dose you will be there all day .. just a slight smoth rounded edge can turn a easy job super hard .... if any thing .. if you have a small 1/4 impact and a 1/4 to 3/8 you might be able to set it on the lowest settings and try it that way .. it will give you that hammper effect i was  talking about .. but please bewear :)

Yeah, use a bigger wrench  it makes it easier. But seriously, a breaker bar or a pipe on your socket wrench should do it, or you can borrow an impact wrench and be done with it. Remember, counterclockwise while looking up at it from underneath, it's easy to go the wrong way when you're working from above.

The choke isn't technically a choke. Conventional chokes have a second butterfly that reduces airflow and increses the signal to the jets, so it enriches the mixture. On our bikes (most bikes for that matter) we have an enrichener, which simply opens up another fuel circut to allow more fuel without restricting the airflow.

The evaporation canister is an emisions thing that dosen't even help emisions much, You can take it off and you'll be fine. Have you seen the Ducati's evap canister? they are only required in the US and look like a complete afterthought. They just stick out there in the open, all ugly. I've only seen them in the show room, everyone takes them off as soon as they get home.
Good luck

yea i sat under the bike for 30 minutes or so just trying to figure out which way to turn the thing but i figured it out eventually.  thanks for the advice, we are lacking in tools but im going to grab them from my friend in a second here.  that nasty oil has to get out.

Get a pipe.

Slip pipe over wrench, you may need a buddy to help hold the wrench on the bolt.

I remember litterally HANGING OFF (this is when I was 220lbs) a 2ft breaker bar trying to get a bolt off my old Monte Carlo. I did pull ups on that thing LOLOLOLOL!

I once had a VW-based dune buggy, and I was trying to get the axle nut off.  I put a 3/4 inch breaker bar on it with a cheater.  I then attached a 1000 lb. come-along (or was it the 2000?) to the end of the cheater and the buggy trailer, and I tightened it as much as I could.  I had roughly 4000 lb-ft of torque on that thing and it wouldn't budge.

Hitting it a couple of times with a shop hammer broke it loose.  Never underestimate the power of impact tools.

Keep in mind that when you put it back on you should only wrench it down to about 40lbs.
