So I went ahead with redoing the front springs, thanks for all the help and advice everyone. I went with .85kg/mm and upgraded to 15w fork oil. (I'm 195lbs so that's right inbetween street and racing on racetech's website) I at the same time "figured out" how to adjust the rear shock preload which was set to 3 from the previous owner so that helped significantly. Man what a diference those springs make. Tracks through corners 1000x better, accelerating is smooth no diving. It's one of those things I just had no clue how much diference it would make. Thanks for the help everyone the job was really quick and easy. I will say a pnuematic ratchet and impact gun make the whole process worlds easier. One thing I forgot but found one in the garage is don't forget to pick up codder pins to replace on the wheel nut  :)

Anyone who hasn't done this to their GS should do it as soon as possible it's simply amazing. No more bottoming out from little bumps in the road and for a little over 100 bucks said and done it's a deal. With a friend and a little bit of time, you're golden :thumb: (although mine probably went about as smoothly as it can go and didn't run into any of the horror stories i've heard.)

So the only question now is......what's next?

So with the rear shock I've been reading all the other posts about the shocks and I can't seem to find any concrete explanation of what "better" is. Is better just stiffer? more responsive? more adjustable, all of them. I'm 6'4" 195 but I don't want , say the gsxr shock under there cause I don't want the height and I do all street stuff and the roads around here are crap. And the Katana 600 shock, if I buy an 89,90,91 etc isn't there a huge risk they'll be blown out from being on a bike for so long? or are they rebuildable. There were just a bunch of questions the forums didn't answer and I just don't know where to find the answers.

On exhausts are there any, in combination with jetting that will increase performance but not make my bike sound like I'm running open headers :). I don't really like bikes that make a ton of noise at low RPM if it starts to yell a bit over 9K that's cool, but I like to try to be curtious of my neighbors being that I'm only 1 of 2 bikes in the entire neighborhood.

Yes, keep the exhaust volume reasonable.  My Ducati SCREAMS and its starting to emberass me.  I have a Srinath flange sitting right here on my floor (thanks Sri, you da man!) but I'm waiting on the muffler until I can find something that is fairly close to stock in volume.

Congrats on the fork springs.  Next year that is at the top of my list.
