So wheres the thread about Nicky Hayden being the MotoGP champion for this year. He won the championship at Valencia on the weekend when Rossi crashed on the 5th lap.

Hayden finished third & Rossi 13th allowing Hayden to win the title.

The race was won by Aussie Troy Bayliss who was a late call up & was competing in his first MotoGP. Bayliss is also the current Superbike champion.

Caparossi was second making it a Ducati 1 2.

Sorry if I spoiled it for you.

I didn't watch the race, only saw the highlights on the news & sports programs. It' good to see someone apart from Rossi win.

It's good to see Hayden win the championship, but after Rossi went down, the remaining twenty-some laps were boring.  There wasn't much competition.  :icon_confused:

I'm waiting on my buddy to give me the recording.

the bigger story was Pedrosa's stupid move the week before.

Congrats to Ricky for the championship.

Sounds like the 8000cc RC212V is about ready to go for 07. www.motorcycledaily.com

I would have given longer odds on Bayliss winning than on Haydens title.
We found a standing place that gave us a perfect view of the crash.  The spaniards loved it, most of the Europeans hated it, us 6 Hayden fans loved it.  I think that other than the Spanish fans, practically all of the Europeans were for Rossi.  We were with a bunch of Brits and you would think that some would be for Ellison if purely for national pride.

It was a dull race afterwards.  Hayden sat in 3rd on company orders, Pedrosa got up to 4th and sat on company orders, Rossi went round and round in the back of the pack hoping for Hayden to have problems.

Hayden may have won due to Rossi´s crash, but it was his own fault.  He had a good starting position, took a bad start and while pushing it to catch up, just laid it down.  So is the fate of racing.

The 125 & 250 races were far more interesting.
At least there is something historic in Nicky´s first championship being the last 990 championship.  I was not expecting this last week.
He said "I don't know man, ah she kinda funny, you know".  I said "I know, everybody funny, now you funny too".  JLH OB,OS,OB
