I think it will be a problem either way. Some people have too much free time. What if your working on yur bike nd have to post about diff problems? I also like the counter it gives an idea of senority. Maybe a points system for relevant posts or maybe a number of stars based upon length of time someone has been a registered member might work better. Something atleast to give a members an idea of who knows what they are talking about.

I just think it's sad to see one guy (just tonight, for example) with almost half of the threads in OE front page started by him.

Get the f%$k off your computer and go do something in real life.

I think it's sad to see someone attack someone else for how they spend their free time.

Get off your motorcycle and go do something productive.

f%$king inane comments.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

pantablo

you're both saying the same thing, in the same attacking tone.

Both of you go do something productive.

It's 2AM.. what could I possibly do to be productive right now? I'm watching TV, conversing with the people I enjoy talking to...

An does the same thing... granted, he's slightly more verbose than the rest of us.. but attacking him is just dumb. I stand up for my friends.

An does not converse with people he enjoys talking to. He posts for the sake of posting. That gets annoying.

I take it you don't remember that on a night long long ago, a certain someone (me) had the WHOLE 1st page of OE with my topics.  Except for the stickies of course (but I couldn't do anything about that).

Ashman?
In this forum the number of stars a person has, gives absolutely NO GUARANTEE that the person concerned knows what he/she is talking about and it shouldnt be taken as an indication of credibility

An's freetime=his whole life.  That, my friend, is what is sad.

Unfortunately, this is exactly how I feel...

Work full time, school part time, the rest is eating and sleeping.  I know some people do this same thing, but with my schedule, I can't get anything else done.  To be honest, I don't even have a SET schedule.

Sometimes I'm working from 8am-5pm
Sometimes I'm working from 1pm-10pm
Sometimes I'm off from work on weekdays
Sometimes I'm off from work on weekends

The ONLY set thing in my life right now is school (kinda).  School Wed & Thurs nights, but then there's homework.  UGH!

I like the Positive and Negative ratings to people's posts...  You could apply it to the 45 second wait time.

If you average a high positive, then your wait time goes down...   Then if you average a high negative, your wait time goes up...

5/5 would be a zero wait.  0/5 would be a 45 second wait...  and -5/5 would be a 2 minute wait time.     An would be f%&ked...     And so would I...

You can't go out on the weekend nights that you are off?

I have 15 credits of school, work 20-25hrs, and after only living here in SD a year, I've got a pretty good base of friends that I can call to hang out with.  I'm only bored and stuck here at home on the comp if I've made the choice to stay in and be bored, otherwise I'm out with friends doing something...riding bicycle, at a bar/the beach drinking, going for a moto ride, playing tennis, etc etc.  I know it's harder to do stuff outside now that it's cold for you guys, but I managed a social life in the midwest while working the same amount and going to school full time, PLUS racing motocross and having to go training rides for that 2-3 nights a week.

Part of life man, dealing with schedule conflicts/nightmares.  Buckle down and go meet some folks.  You might be surprised how welcoming folks are, if that is part of your issue of not going out.

Ok I really don't care for this software.  VBulletin works better and have built in features that REALLY set it apart.

Post counts are cool...they should stay.  As stated, it gives an idea of senority...not so much intellgence, but it's hard to have 10k posts and only have been here a few months.

Post limits are NOT cool.  The most helpful members here post as needed...sometimes that's not many, sometimes it's a lot.  Some people post here to socialize...again sometimes it's not a lot of posts, and sometimes it's a LOT of posts.  There shouldn't be a limit as sometimes people just want to post.  It's not a bad thing.

VBulletin has a thing, though, that allows members to "rate" one another.  Though on larger forums it's always went downhill, I think here it could be managed.

VBulletin has a points system, too.  You get points for posts...how many points you get is dependant on the activity and location of the thread.  Though most forums have this turned off, others use it for an online store, others have an arcade installed and the points are your quarters.

VBulletin has an arcade.  I mean, really...it has an arcade.

VBulletin's lifetime license isn't that expensive, and the software is less taxing than what's being run here...on both the users and the host.  I'm sure GSTwins would be glad to donate to get it up and going.
