Hi gang,

I did read the entire thread and again repeat, wow, what a trip!  This guy has amazingly inspirational story--from the energy and sense of adventure he embodied in planning and carrying out this trip to the sobering reminder that something equally chaotic could happen to any of us when we go out for a ride to his current challenge (and bravery) of facing law school as a paraplegic.

I found the following quote in one of the posts particularly moving:

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than exposure. Helen Keller (1880-1968)

THat's basically right tho, isn't it? I mean how could she speak or even write out thoughts? she couldn't see or hear. How do you learn the english language when you're like that? Or learn anything for that matter.

I just read up on helen keller and I retract most of that question, although all she ever said probably was  oliskeeellooooghhghhlle.

read up a little bit more and you;ll learn a little more. She wasn't retarded, unlike some of the posters in this thread.

JakeD-getting your nipple pierced is not crazy. Killing a drifter to get an errection? Now that's crazy!

makenzie71

Who said she was retarded?

I didn't read this thread before I read the story.  I was all psyched about the trip he was taking and just about fell out of my chair when it ended.
