Since it's not a GS: OT: My ride to Palomar Observatory and back...

Started out at 3:45PM, stopped for gas in Encinitas, took 78E to the S2, north to the 76W, to S7 which is Palomar Mountain's East Grade.  Froze ass off somewhere around there.  Got dark about 10 miles before I hit the S2.

Took S7 up to the Observatory, then rode the S6 back down (it'd be better if you went UP S6 and then down S7), idled in neutral most of the way until some random Audi started gaining on me, so I actually clicked it into gear and ran away from him.

While up on the mtn, saw a shooting star...and the stars!  First time I've seen a night sky like that since I moved to SD over a year ago!

Good ride, but cold.

Earlier in the day I pulled the rubber gasket out between the stock clutch cover and case on the Ducati, let the jingle-jangling begin!  Love the rattle/noise it makes, it definitely trips people out.

Quite a few sport bikerzzzzzzz on the I5 northbound, splitting between lanes of cars going 80-85.  No wonder people think I'm an idiot/wreckless when they find out I ride on the street.

Did see a young couple on a completely stock 'Busa that was being very respective and doing pretty well safety-wise, until I passed them, then apparently he needed to show off by splitting lanes at the speeds mentioned above, as well as holding a position about 6 inches from the rear bumper of every car they came up behind.  This after 5-10 miles of completely safe and non-aggressive behaviour that I had seen just prior to my presence being known to them.  Very odd.

Anyway, good ride, great bike! and I'm already looking at places to save weight on the STooMuch.  Parents are looking at the BMW super-tourers, the Multistrada and the Vstrom to replace it.  My dad is turning 50 in a month, and I think he's finally giving in to his back's complaint of the sporty side of sport tourers riding position.  My mom is no spring chicken either, so I'm sure the luxo-tourer's seat would make her happier.

Horrid shot of the sign at the top...but it was cold and dark already, so I have an excuse.
