Ok So I haven't gotten my bike inspection that was due back in May. To be honest, I am not worried at all of getting it done. But I have some questions

Questions:
Do yall do it every year religiously?
Where do you put it on the bike?
Has anyone ever gotten a ticket because of not having it up to date?

No idea.

No idea.

No idea.

I live in Cali...we figure if you can't keep it together on the freeway you'll probably just flip it into the ditch and die.  No brakes?  Drive it into the ditch and die.

Down here in the swamps, it is wise to get one. I do it religiously every year. If they catch you without it, there is a stiff fine. 80 bucks. These little villages don't have much money and they want all they can get from any source. Of course the "state" does too! I carry mine folded in my wallet. I carry the registration and any insurance "papers" in a large manilla envelope tucked in under the seat in that kinda "rear" space back there and it has never "gone anywhere".
Of course my DL and insurance cards are in my wallet along with the Suzi inspection.
Everything will be fine unless you get caught without it. Then it's gonna be time to "pay up". :)
Taxes are Good. Millions that have been on Welfare for the last 30 years are depending on you. Also Millions that are coming over the border each year are depending on YOU.
Also taxes will fix our shitty schools and roads that have been broken for 40+ years.

You really don't get it do you???

FearedGS500

oh go get it done . its 12.50 if you take it to the stealer it takes them 30 sec. they go "blinkers horn lights . look at your tire tread" boom your done .. you take it to an inspection shop .. they do all of that and then they make you go to the side or back and you have to get up to like 20 or 30 miles and stop with in 50 feet of a stoping point ... besides ... that money goes to the roads !

Aren't you worried it will get wet?
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

I got a ticket for not having the sticker on my bike.  My plate fell off and the sticker was on it.  2 days later a motorcycle cop pulled me over speeding and wrote me a ticket for not having the sticker.  Got a new plate, new sticker, and took proof to the court and they dismissed it.  Still had to pay the speeding ticket, but eh.  I would put the sticker somewhere other than on the plate.  If it comes off for some odd reason, you'll still have the sticker.  Put it on the swing arm, frame, or just above the plate on whatever you've got left of the fender.

Inspection?  What's that?   :)

Hell, if they did vehicle inspections in this state 3/4's of the cars would have to be scrapped.

Nevermind the farm trucks.  Saw one a couple of days ago.  Appeared as though both rear axles split in half while he was cruising down the road at a boring 30MPH.  One guy was out in the field next to the road trying to find the wheels off the right side.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Scratch, I apologize for not mentioning that I have those articles in a ziplock sandwich bag. Truthfully, though...................not even the evelope (not in a sandwich bag) has ever gotten wet. Of course I don't ride in the rain either. Baby Suzi gets way too much "babying". :)

I keep my registration papers in my tool bag under the seat.  Like OMW, I too, keep that in a ziplock baggie.

I've thought about keeping my license in the same tool bag.  I actually have two copies.  One with my motorcycle endorsement, and one without.

I don't know what I'm going to do on the DR-Z. It has no underseat storage. Hell, it doesn't even have an underseat. You have to unbolt the side panels and unscrew the seat to remove it.

My buddy had his hawk (the one he decided not to sell) inspected/registered in Arizona a few weeks back.  They do 1 year registrations and annual inspections.  1988 Hawk with a one year reg .. when do you think it expires .... my first guess was 1989.

2045 - wonder if that means he doesn't ever have to get it inspected again - would be nice since the 2nd VIN spot on the bike (other than frame) was a sticker that came off years ago and he had to pay $25 for a state employee to write the # on a post it before the bike could be reg'd

Jace009gs

you all should move to Maryland  you only have to pass inspection once during the vehicle's ownership!!! O0 but let me tell you that one time it takes like a week for the dealer to do the inspection, they actualy measure tread depth, rotor thickness, chain tension and other nitty-gritty-picky stuff...
Motorcycle's are God's greatest creation; turning gas into noise with acceleration & power as side effects

MrDan

I just moved from MD to VA ....

When I bought my first SG, the bike inspection in MD failed 5 items the day after it passed in VA (where I bought it).  I ended up having to do brakes, reflectors, and a few other things.  GS I bought from Srinath .. passed in VA in less than 15 minutes.

That being said .... I grew up in MD and loved NEVER having to have the cars inspected.  VA sucks.
