Here's a video of me and friends on Ortega on Thanksgiving. Camera guy is on a GSX-R1000, other friend on GSX-R750, and me on my humble GS500

Thanks for a great ride!  Happy Thanksgiving!  Good video!  :thumb:
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

very nice!  I am envious of roads like that since where I live simply looks like one big grid.

Flywheel

It was nice to see a trusty GS500 strut its stuff on a decent road for once, instead of some latest-greatest road rocket (and wearing proper gear, too). Up here in Toronto, you have to hunt just to find a mild curve, so I'm envious.
gs500 K2 (blue/silver) + Pirelli Sport Demon tires, Pro 6 stainless brake lines (front/rear), Racetech .85 kg/mm fork springs, 15w Motul fork oil, Kat 600 rear shock, K+N drop in air filter, Kisan PathBlazer/Tailblazer modulators, Oxford heated grips and a Givi A240 flyscreen.

I am so jealous right now....

I wish I had roads like that up here in MA.

Good choice of background music too...  not like the common rock songs that EVERYONE puts in their vids.

What is that first song???

Nice video, great curves....and no one got hurt  :thumb:

2 questions

1) who is the guy in the lead stretching his knee out so damn far in a turn....looking for scraping experiences? ( gets past afterwards by someone that doesnt need a knee slide to turn...lol)

2) Why pass the two vehicles in a curve, could not wait the 3 secs it would of taken to get to the flat straight after the curve to pass them?

cheers

'morning. Lead guy at the beginning was me; I learned to ride on old, old bikes, so hanging off was the only way to get those SOBs to turn! It's still a little thrill to get a knee down. And on Ortega, a lot of times, you can see the road open up down the next short chute when you're still in the corner, so that's when you make your move. AT least, they do; me, I'm on a friggin' GS, so I've gotta wait until I've got plenty of time to make a move.

;)

Yeah I remember how that was. My only real criticism is that even though the bike did'nt cross the double yellow part of your body was over the double yellow. We have lost friends that way consider yourself part of the bike and keep everything on your side of the line.
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

potade

nice vid. i commute the ortega, but only the section between the 5 and up till nichols institute (where i work).

quick question for ya, what kind of video setup did your friend use?

morbidelli17

No clue. It's some little round camera that is fully self-contained and cost him $129. He stuck it to a piece of wood he had zip-tied to his fairing mount. We did a track day at Willow Springs yesterday, and he got some footage there, too, including me on my SV500. I'll post it here when he gets done editing it.

WildBlue

Sweet video.

Raining here today so no ride.

Can you find out where he got it?

And find out if that's all you need to record vids...

I'll ask. I know that the camera is the only apparatus involved, and it has a two-gig memory card. Here's the Big Willow footage:

My friend says:

It is an AT18-ATC2K Waterproof Action Camera from Oregon Scientific. I ordered it from their web site.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.
