well aparently the gs500 is clasified as a "performance motorcycle" whatever that means, and farmers won't insure it.

does anyone know where we can find cheap motorcycle insurance?

bike-line.com
Progressive

Try a search on insurance.  It is a pretty popular topic on here.

I pay $220 per year for full coverage through Progressive, but I am 32 years old with no wrecks or tickets.

I just started my insurance on the GS500 and it's $51/year for full coverage.  I have a multiple vehicle discount, AMA discount, "long-termer" discount...  good driving record...

I have been with Progressive for some time now, so...

You might consider challenging Farmers on the "sport" part of their policy by bringing the bike to them and letting them look at it - no offense, but an unfaired bike tends to look non-performance...

I'm pay around 180 / yr with almost min. liability, with $10,000 medical payments with Plymouth rock. Just thought I'd let you know because I am also 19 years old with a perfect record.  In MA the rates are set, but my truck insurance company (amica) would not insure unless i got my full license within a certain time.

mrslush50

I don't think you ever said if you wanted full coverage or just liability.

Anyways, I have liability coverage with Sentry Insurance (aka Dairyland County Mutual Insurance in Texas) for about $130 per year for both my Dad ('83 Honda CX650) and I ('96 Suzuki GS500). Our agent told us it was cheaper than Progressive, which covers our automobiles.

Hears a info link with a phone number if your interested: http://www.sentry.com/consumer_auto_specialty_insurance.htm
They do have independent agents in Washington.

you cant have collision on your bike.  I quoted with collision and My insurance was like $2grand/yr  but without collision/uninsured/medpay I am paying $400/yr with comp, and I am in a high theft city (tampa,FL) so anything over $500/yr your getting taken for a ride.

Dairyland won't insure you if you have two tickets or a ticket and at fault accident. But they do have great rates if you have a perfect record.

I pay $600 a year to USAA for liability on a 90 GS.

My record is:
one at fault (backed up into a van and cracked the headlight) and a

14mph over (69 in a 55 - this was on I-81 where if you go under 70 you will get run off the road by packs of tractor trailers - coincidentally my car was picked out of about 7 cars and trailers doing the same speed then my car was searched for "the drugs I hid" when he pulled out and my LEGAL tint was checked for legality) here's to you supposedly unbiased VA cops  :nana:
