This is probably old news to others, but...
I got tired of removing the cargo net every time I needed to remove the seat (to lock my helmet), so I fastened my cargo net around the seat, instead of to the rail underneath.  I often have a cheap backpack in the cargo net; now I can just leave the backpack there and still pop the seat off, lock the helmet under the seat, and pop into a pub... I mean into a store  (often the backpack is empty).

As a side benefit, the netting doesn't scratch the plastic body panels anymore.  And the webbing isn't as tight, so it don't press grooves into the seat so much.  And you can fit more stuff under them, which is a huge win for me.

I usually leave the webbing connected to itself under the seat like this:

The top usually starts-out looking nice like this:

... but usually ends-up looking like this after a few days:

I'm thinking of keeping it in place, by fastening a few different places to the underside of the seat pan with some nylon fasteners and pan-head screws.  Or just staples if I get lazy.

Update:  If you can spread-out the netting under the seat so it is on either side of the cable lock mechanism, then it doesn't bunch-up with use, and stays nice and spread-out.  However, then it is more difficult to snap the seat down.

That isn't old news. I am going to try it.  
I usually attach the hooks to the sub frame which makes removing the seat very difficult. I also removed the 2 middle hooks. I got the idea from the SVrider sight. The 02 seat is really wide and it is really hard to get the hooks to the grab bars. So going under makes sence.

what size is the net you use? I bought one and it was way to big.
