Added Blue and White LEDs

I ordered a kit for a little over $100 and took some time tonight to install a few of the LEDs.

I got a kit with 7 Blue and 2 white.

I've only installed 4 blue and 1 white so far and this is how it looks. I'll most likely add another white to fill in the dark spot in the middle...

The white one is on the center stand, so when the stand is down it actually shines right at the ground, and when it's up it's hitting the back tire (no blinding of drivers).

I've never worked with the complete LED kits, but be careful...

Too much power draw might drain your battery REEEEEAAAAAAAAAAL quick.

LEDs draw a very small amount of power.

Just think, if a single LED can run off of a CR2032 battery for months, I'm really not worried about the drain of a handful of LEDs on a motorcycle battery.  :thumb:

I love that.  Was it hard to do?

Not at all.

I got it from here: http://www.customdynamics.com/step_lights.htm

Their page is a little weird to navigate, but the kit I got was "Standard CD LED Accent Kit". I specified in the order comments that I wanted the two pods to be white instead of blue (to match my bike). I don't think it's standard but they did it for me no questions asked.  :thumb:

It came with EVERYTHING, and I mean everything I needed, minus tools. Some people might need more wire than was included though. What took long was I did it in the dark and wanted to be super careful about routing of wires to keep them from heat and stress. Then it took me forever to decide where each light looked the best. The roommate had to help me with that one.

Overall I'm happy. I'll add more lights to get better blending (I don't like the spots/shadows) but it does turn heads.

Ill have to check and see if its legal here.  Id hate to do it then have to remove them.

Nice. :thumb:   You need to replace your headlight bulb with a hyper white or whatever they call them these days.  Did you set yours up to run off a toggle switch?  Or are they on all the time?

I do belive that is isn't quite illegal in Cali unless it uses emergency vehicle color...hence no MIXING of red, white, and blue....But I'm not 100% on that. I think they let solid colors slide if they don't strobe.

My old 69 Mustang had a green under body light kit (Flat black paint job, it looked sweet) and I never got in trouble for the lights at all.
There are those that have been down and there are those that will go down...which are you?

I think thats fregin awesome  :thumb:
I agree with Blue05, replace the head lamp bulb with something whiter.

Typically, any blue light on a non-law enforcement or non-emergency vehicle is illegal, depending on your location of course. The police in SC use blue lights and is illegal for anyone else to use them. Also, It would not surprise me that any light of any color considered a distraction could be illegal.

Personally, I think neons look like crap. But then I am not the one riding your bike.
Common sense in not very common.

In PA Volunteer Firemen use blue lights. When I moved to SC for school I didnt know the cops there use only blue (here its red and blue).. Anyway a cop was following me in a camaro for over 3 miles.. he called for backup and everything.. I had no idea he was a cop.. just thought it was a fireman who forgot his lights were on  :thumb: He let me go

Anyway... Nice lights  :thumb: I know here in PA you cant have them.. But lots of the harley guys have em and just leave them on while they are parked outside the bar  :thumb:

Hmmm....I wonder if purple lights are legal. ;)  One reason I like the LEDs is because of the increased-visibility factor. Another is that I just like the LED bling!  :thumb:

Forget the LEDs, what you really need are the negative field generator diodes. They create a phased buffer around the bike making it invisible to radar.

Oh wait. It's not April yet.  My bad.

Looks great Raydr.  I've spent some time trying to add lights but I can't figure out how to mount them.

Did you have to drill holes anywhere to mount the lights?  Did the mounting hardware come with some kind of clamp?

For a smoother glow, you could give electroluminescent wire, they come in all sorts of colors and are flexible as well.  The UV protected ones say that they're good outdoors. http://www.vibelights.com/elwirebyfoot.html  It's cool stuff regardless.
