Hi there fellow bikers, trust we are all well. Brought my GS500 a month ago and it needs a complete strip down and some TLC, which i'll do over the winter. At the mo i'm fettling with my front brakes as they are too spongy. Took the caliper off and after a quick look, knew that it's need a complete strip down. Going to use some EBC HH pads with a steel braided hose, should do the trick. However has anybody upgraded the caliper - if so what bike did you get the new caliper off??

Also my chain and sprockets need replacing any reccomendations on what size sprockets i should go for ie change for accleration or keep standard??

What tyres do people reccommend for road use??

That is a lot of questions for one thread but I will try anyway.
Thye only time I have heard of a caliper upgrade is when the forks are swapped. GSX and Katana's can be made to work. You will have to do a searchh for specifics.
I have heard a lot of people posting good results by droping one tooth in the front.
I am not even going to touch on tires that one has been discussed in many threads.
Welcome to addiction :thumb: Check out Pablo's and Joris's site for more how-to's and GS info.

Any forks with the same OD (37mm) ought to fit.

Stock sprockets are are 16/39.  Going to a 15 in the front will help with accelleration while keeping the highway driveability.

how does the katana caliper offer an upgrade from the stock?
