i'd like to get my gf an mp3 player for around 50 bucks.  i want the best bang for my buck obviously.  does anyone know a site that categorizes popular mp3 players by price?  i'd also like it if the site would rate them too.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

Sansa.

seriously.

They look cheap as hell.... but they get the job done.... I think the 2gb one I have now goes for like 79 at BestBuy... the smaller versions are cheaper........

+1  I've got a Sansa 2.0 GB mp3 player as well, its fairly easy too use, and is currently holding 564 songs from about 160 different artist.
Its a great little player for the money, but If I was to do it again, I'd get a larger GB, probably the 30 GB I-pod.
Being naked was great, but now that I'm older I thought I should cover up!!!!

Mods?  What mods, no really its stock!!

I've got a Creative MuVo TX FM, 512mb.  I bought it because I was looking for a cheapo portable FM radio until my GF convinced me to get something with an MP3 player.  For 40-50 bucks(?) at Walmart it's not bad.  Holds a few CDs, easy to use, easy to plug into usb port, and it has a radio.  I don't have a lot of experience with small mp3 players, but it seems to eat through batteries kinda quick (uses 1 AAA).  Great small size that fits into your pocket easy, but not small enough to get lost.

thats the 1gb version of what I have, and I like it alot.  Very reliable, and you can change out the AAA battery very easily.... I get about 12-18 hours of play out of a single battery.

That's a pretty good deal, and I would totally recommend the package deal for the player with the silicone cover, the extra five dollars for that protective cover is well worth it, I would almost say it would be like not wearing a helmet while riding your bike.
I got my Sansa 2gb player from Best Buy a little less than a year ago and paid about $150 for the player and $15 for the silicone cover, unfortunately I'm one of those impulse buyer's, and when I see something I really want I get it with out shopping around.
And like Wrecent had said the Sansa is Windows based (mp3,wma), as long as your using a PC an not an Apple computer you should have zero problems, I use Windows Media Player and Napster, and plugged the Sansa right in out of the package and both programs recognized the device with out having to download anything, and I had Sync-ed all my favorite tunes and filled the capacity in about half an hour. (very easy)

I have a Sansa too...  It's cool enough...  And it's not an iPod.   :thumb:
