Hi

What do you guys think about XADO? Or have any better ideas?

http://www.xado-us.com/index.html

I poured it into my oil when bought my 96 GS. I hope it worked as said, cannot tell the difference, because had nothing to compare with, but the engine was smooth, silent and easy-starting all year round... I used it in my car's engine too... i felt the difference there indeed. The engine ran smoother, less vibration, less noise, more powerfull, easy-starting.

Thats the story :)

Did a quick google. The Web is teeming with resellers heaping praise on the product, but suspiciously devoid of neutral testimonials.

Haven't found any outright negative comments, just suspicious ones. And a few positive testimonials that apparently are not sponsored.

It is pricey stuff, so somehow I'd expect folks to share their positve experiences on neutral forums.

Sounds like Snake oil to me.Especially the Restoring and Repair Grease. You can't bring Back something thats 50-80% worn out.As far as repairing Cylinder bores it probably does the same thing that the Restore stuff in the Cans at the Autoparts Stores does.

Of course I am Old Fashion.I don't believe in Synthetic Oil Either. :)

Your cylinder walls are splash lubricated. The cam bearings are pressure fed, and the crank and most other plain bearings are also pressure fed. Making oil stickier like lucas does will help both. Now PTFE type friction reducers are by themsleves sorta worthless. The plain bearings dont like any lumpy crap (and PTFE in a bottle is rather large jello like globs, no idea if you dump in oil and churn it about like your motor does it will smooth out and integrate with oil and become a liquid), the cylinder walls will get them scraped off plenty quick. So I'd think this will be similar. By making oil stickier so it sits for longer when you toss it up against a vertical wall can help. Most of the rest will not.
Problem with the lucas types is foaming. I believe though that foaming will get reduced by temperature though.
Cool.

Damn, we have lawnmower engines?!!?!

Stay away from snake oils.  They're a waste of money and time.

QuoteDamn, we have lawnmower engines?!!?!

Yup, nearly all small high-speed engines are that way.  The cylinders are lubricated by oil thrown from the crankshaft or con rod journal spray holes.

The only engines I know of that have pressure lubricated piston skirts weigh more than your house.  Most of them have cylinders big enough to swallow a GS engine, or worse, an entire GS.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

I call it utter bullshit. If stuff like this was genuine it would put people out of work and revolutionise Engineering. If it was genuinely and independantly endorsed by PhD Engineers or leading Universities I would sit up and pay some attention but until then they can blow it all out of their arses. "Mass produced parts cannot be made to exact tolerances"???? Who the f**K are they trying to kid? And as for the FAQ`s......I havent laughed so much since the last time I watched "The life of Brian". Some people think they notice improvements after using this stuff because they fall for the speil and are taken in and become convinced its doing some good, in short its the good old Placebo effect. Better spending the money on good quality oil and a new filter.

I try to keep an open mind on things, but what you need to do is go put on 50,000 miles and really see if that stuff works, I usually start becoming a believer after 5 years of life experience, sort of like I know I'll never use conventional motor oil ever again.  Just my .02
Being naked was great, but now that I'm older I thought I should cover up!!!!

I m use in my bike Castrol GPS Full synthetics oil cause our bike is Air coled  , This is high performance race bike oil and it is make very big difference on my bike. Spacial , when i m change gear now it is so easy and soft. Dont trust this extra performance staff , cause u just will  lose your money and not gain any power to your bike.

Anything that can make oil sticky (like lucas additive) has a small advantage. it will stick to the walls better, and make cold starts a bit better.
If the bike sits though, your piston rings will have the oil collect up inbetween them and the end effect isn't as dry as you might thing it is.
Someone used a drill or somehting to run the gear spinning thing that lucas uses to demonstrate the climbing ability and ran it at 10,000 rpm and made the lucas sheite into a foamy mass that simply climbed up the wall and sat there. If it does that, its got ton of air and that is bad. However the fact that it stuck to the walls made a decent case for it sticking to cylinder walls. Then of course the air and the foam ... who knows what temperature does ???
