Mr Hyde

Hey there.. havent really posted much on here, but I've been reading alot !

This past Feb I bought my 05 gs500 (nekid, they still sell them nekid in Canada) and put on 5000 km's this season learning how to ride the bike..
This year I've already put on a F-15 windscreen, V&H exhaust and a jetkit...  Its still not quite where I want it. But unfortunatly the insurance on a 600cc would make the whole motorcycle adventure a little less appealing to my wallet, so I've decided to jsut do up the GS to where I'd like it...  so for this winter I'm planning on...

-convert to F model..The dealership in Waterloo is great ! and is pricing everything out for me to do the conversion.
-15 tooth front sprocket
-Katana rear wheel
-new RADIAL tires.. ( still trying to figure out WHAT to use here )
-progressive front springs
-rim tape
MAYBE some led's.. not sure on how "bling " i want it.. i wanna ride the bloody bike, not show off at Timmies.

I'm going to be getting the fairings without the decal package, so I'm going to figure out some decals of my own to put on.. I'd like a dragon on the side.. but it will take some time to figure this out.. I prolly wont ride it till April, so I have lots of time to sort this out..

I want to re-tweak the jets as well because I seem to have a dead spot around 5000rpm.. any suggestions there ???

hopefully theres a few more riders in the southern ontario area and we can hook up for a ride in the spring..
oh.. and I'll post pictures as I go.. :P
Cheers

Sounds like a fun winter.  In in New Brunsiwck and still riding pretty much every day.  Although my wife thinks Im nuts.

I use Esso for fuel so far for my 06 GSF and havent had any dead zones.  I only use regular as well which is 87 octane.

Im wondering how much the fairings cost.  I have an F but Im curious.

I want to add the rim tape this summer and maybe some LEDs but Im thinking that the lights are illegal here.  I guess Ill call the cop shop and see whats legal here.  I put my scooter Givi top case on.  It looks ugly, to me, but is handy as hell.  Im also going to get some side sport bags and some good bike boots.  Im only using sneakers right now, doh!

The dealership in Waterloo rocks?!??!?!  :cookoo:  :bs:

Anyways, I live in Kitchener; it'd be cool to hook up sometime. PM me your email addy, and maybe we can arrange to meet up to check out eachother's bikes even if the snow is flying. I'd be interested to see your setup :)

Needle adjustment perhaps?
Yes.

WOW! There seems to be more Ontarians than I originally thought!  We should organize an all Ontario GS500 ride! It'll have to be early in the spring... I might be picking up a new bike in the spring... too bad my bike fund is based on snow...

No complaining this year!  If you really want to ride you can still ride here in Ontario.  We've had a fantastic riding season.   I remember having to park the bike last year in November because of all the snow on the roads.  I don't think the bike is going into storage at all this year.. maybe just a bit of stabil for the few weeks we get snowed in.  :)

We tried that last year: Only myself and Recreational_Anxiety showed up!

But yeah...we should organize another and see if we can actually get it together :)

Heck! Im out in Kitchener all the time flying out of Kitch/Waterloo Rgnl, so even if the ride was out that way its cool with me!

Hmm, if you guys want to cross the peace bridge, I live south of Buffalo a little ways.  How bad is the winter up there this year?  It has been unseasonably warm this year besides our one big blizzard.  Kind of strange not to have snow on the ground, I actually have been able to take the bike out a lot!

Yeh it has been a great season so far. Riding comfortably in November and December with no snow. Its great.

I put a V&H exhaust on my bike with a K&N replacement filter, didnt do much to the carbs and my bike seems to be performing well. I have an 02' Naked.

If you have an 05' naked why would u switch to a F  :icon_confused: ??

( I would forsure be in for meeting up for a ride next season )

You know...after putting my naked GS away just a while ago, and giving her a good cleaning, there is something to be said about having the engine being hidden from clean freak's eyes. Took me 6+ hours to clean and detail her this year!

Mr. Hyde, you may be onto something.

A clean engine will run cooler.  I think it's nothing short of being diligent.  :thumb:
And, how much easier it would be to do, without the fairings.
Fairings may hide oil leaks.  Your oil pan has fining, and if that gets dirty, it wont cool the oil as well, or the rest of the engine (oil-cooler notwithstanding).
