Has anyone heard anything about Suzuki discontinuing the SV models for 2004?  I was on the Suzukicycles site earlier and I couldn't find any mention of the SV650, SV650S, or the SV1000.  I was seriously looking at the SV650S as my next step up bike and I'd be pretty disconcerted if Suzuki decided to stop making them.  I mean I REALLY like them.

Well, I checked the link and no picture came up.  I checked the site again and I didn't see a DL650 listed under sport or standard motorcycles (I also checked dirt, motocross, and pretty much everyother category).  I hope they did just rename it because I was looking forward to owning one eventually.

The DL is  a new model. The SV line-up hasn't been really announced yet, but there appears to be a fully faired 1000 model. I don't ecpect there will be big changes since they were new models in '03.

And there is no way Suzuki will discontinue a great selling bike like the SV.

especially since they JUST updated the model.....manufacturers usually like to keep the same model for at least two years or their r&d they wont make too much profit after R&D costs....(i think)? hehe...

The web site is majorly dicked up, so I wouldn't go by it.  These are the rumors/facts as far as I can tell:

Both SVs are back, but I've heard that either both or just 1000 nakeds isn't being sold here.

The Bandit didn't get a redesign this year.  

The 650 version of the DL V-Strom monstrocity is replacing the Bandit 600 in the line up.

Check my post on the "more GS500F pics".  There's a link there (the last one) that has a whole bunch of shots taken at Suzuki's booth.  The SV's are still around.  You'll see some pics of the new "bug screen" for the SV 650 naked, and the new lowers for the 1000 S model.  The SV650 is a very successful motorcycle for Suzuki.  It may even last as long as the Katana 600 did..

New bug screen is similar to that of the Ducati Monster - colored plastic with a clear screen in the center.  The Katana is back, too  The VStrom may not be a looker, but it's functional and does what it's supposed to do very well.  If you can get over the looks, you may actually like being able to go from the highway, to the twisties to a dirt road, hopping curbs at will.

Suzuki is indeed making the SV650 and SV650S and SV1000 and SV1000S for 2004. They just haven't made a link to them yet. Here is how you can see the unfinished page for each:

I hate those SV's...they think they are sooooo cool with their V-twin motors and their fuel injections and their vaccum pressed frames and their fatter tires... I just hope someone would drag one out of its fancy showroom and make them go all over the roads and through the dirty city streets and highways, and leave them on the side of the road...
