My daughter works as a nurse in a casualty/E.R. unit, she specialises in minor injuries and often tells a sad tale of the ways people find to harm themselves and one-another, also some interesting "Just how did the cucumber get THERE?" sort of stories.

During her Christmas eve shift this year she had an "Old boy" (Probably my age) come in for some cuts and at the end of the treatment he said "Oh bye the way can I have a couple of rubbers?". Of course says the Daughter taking a couple of condoms from a drawer and giving them to him (This is normal practice here)

The guy goes red and says "No - I meant tips for my walking sticks" Hey-Ho.

Take a bit more than that to turn a nurse red, particularly the one in my family.

Most of them, apparent just front it out, at a previous Hospital only about 30 miles away there was a couple, well-known to the Docs and Nurses, who were known as "The Cucumber regulars" who seemed to delight in, shall we say "Object Fetishes" and often need assistance (both of them!) in removing all sorts.
