Well, it was 29 when I left for work today, but it's 50 this afternoon.

I've been told by several coworkers that this isn't right. I've had my bike for less than 3 months, and I've already put about 3000 miles on it. Why didn't I do this years ago?

Just ramblings from a newb  :cookoo: .. Merry Holidays and stuffs.

Its similar weather here.. and I get the same "your crazy" from my coworkers.  But when you wear full gear it really isn't that cold.  I tell them as long as its above 20 and not raining or snowing I'll be riding.  I like riding in winter more than summer because I can be fully armored and not burn up.

Even if it's bitterly cold out I'd rather ride my GS than the bus. Or my bicycle. Or walking, for that matter.

Going out tomorrow in search of winter at 8:00 am for about 8 hours into the Catskill Mountains in NY State.
Being the coward that I am, I'm taking my V-Strom.   Windshield, handguards, heated grips, just
like sitting home on my couch.

is it time to check the valves?

We had a family stranded in the snowed-in mountains in Southern Oregon this year. 9 days later, the father died of hypothermia and his family was found safe in their car, minus the tires they burned. If anything happens, dont leave your vehicle!!! It offers the highest chance of survival because of... well... V-Strom... nevermind. If you break down, you're screwed.  :o

I've been doing that for 22 years here in NE Ohio.

Bought my first bike in July 84 and got the winter layup insurance as recommended.  Come November I had no intention of quitting for the winter so I changed to year round insurance and have been riding all year every year since.   :thumb:
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

I have a perfectly good car and I always ride my GS500 I'll ride that thing until the gas freezes up in tank!  Needless to say I am wearing multiple layers! two pairs of thermals, two sweaters, a coat, a windbreaker, two sets of gloves, two pairs of socks, etc....
I'm not lazy just a master of efficiency
