I have a 04 GS500f and recently I rode it around and when I came to a stop then I could not shift into nuetral.  However when I'm riding the bike then I can shift to nuetral.  This morning I started the bike and I had no problem getting it into nuetral.  After it warmed up a bit, then I had the same problem.  Anyone have any ideas?

It depends partly on the mileage, I think, although the gearbox is usually more keen to shift when in motion. At ~8 000 km, getting things into neutral was a bit tricky for me, but things loosened up by ~11 000 km.
gs500 K2 (blue/silver) + Pirelli Sport Demon tires, Pro 6 stainless brake lines (front/rear), Racetech .85 kg/mm fork springs, 15w Motul fork oil, Kat 600 rear shock, K+N drop in air filter, Kisan PathBlazer/Tailblazer modulators, Oxford heated grips and a Givi A240 flyscreen.

Let the clutch lever out a little. Sometimes if the clutch is pulled completely to the handlebar it is hard to shift, especially finding neutral.
Common sense in not very common.

Pull the clutch lever with AUTHORITY...sometime the plates stick if you have a wimpy pull on the lever.

When you stop when warm does it just shift from 1-2 and from 2-1 back and forth without catching neutral?  If so put bike on centerstand and check oil level.  Is it over filled a bit?  If so, take a little out or just wait till it gets lower.

I know this can't possibly affect the shifting, but it does and it's been reported here before by others too.   :)
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

Sorry Jack motor oil overfill can effect the shift problem because I try it before. Just 500ml overfill!
The second reason a the motor oil too old.

Maybe some clutch cable adjustment will help?
