red and blue, red only and blue only are all illegal in CA. Technically illegal to have the neons/leds period, but most cops won't bother you unless they are reflected in a manner that can hinder other people's visibility. aka, aimed to the ground and not red or blue, you're safe in cali.

Forget the LEDs, what you really need are the negative field generator diodes. They create a phased buffer around the bike making it invisible to radar.

Oh wait. It's not April yet.  My bad.

Hey Pandy!

You know, I haven't investigated it thoroughly, but I don't see why an array of infrared LEDs at the proper wavelength wouldn't make you "invisible" to laser detectors by blinding the device.  I don't know of any laser frequency that is regulated by the FCC.

Sounds like the radar jamming ideas of the last 20 years. From a purely investigative prespective you have an interesting point. Could one do such a thing?  :dunno_white:

I do not know what the laws of various states are that concern interfering with law enforcement hardware in the course of their work. I heard the stories of the uber-gadget made by the clever geek who was pulled over. The LEO couldn't figure out how he did it and the story has various endings.   :bs:

I think that real-time video analyis is so good now that any countermeasure other than complete invisibility is short lived. Numerous are the times I have been scoped by a traffic officer and my multiband radar/lazer detector never burped. What were they using? He was pointing a gadget at me and looking through it.

Go figure.   Keep thinking "What If?" though. It oftens opens doors to new places.  :thumb:

He was probably using marks and a stopwatch.  Pretty old idea, and hard to detect.  I don't know what all is out there these days.  Each has their weaknesses.  Unfortunately, jamming radar is an expensive proposition since the radar bands are regulated by the FCC.  Violations can get much more expensive than a traffic ticket.

Laser, OTOH, seems pretty straightforward, if you can find a suitable diode.  The devices measure the difference in the time it takes for a signal to bounce back, i.e. it measures the speed of light and most police ladar operates at 904 nm.  I couldn't find diodes in that frequency in my very brief search though, only lasers.

From what I've read, VASCAR now has a system in the car where they simply input the known distance, click start, and click stop. The computer does all the work. It's a neat system.

For anyone who doesn't know, the white stripes painted on the highway let cops catch you speeding.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

In WA, the state patrol does NOT need to catch you on radar...  They do not need to use any device, marking, or timer...  They do not need to pace you or see you in traffic...

In order for WA S.P. to issue you a valid (nearly impossible to fight) speeding ticket they must simply do one thing:  See you speed.

They are trained to be able to estimate a vehicle speed within 5 MPH...  One of the times I was pulled over for speeding the city officer (non S.P.) told me all about it.  She told me that she couldn't issue me a ticket because she didn't catch me on radar, even though she knew I was speeding...  She told me how fast I was going when I passed her.  She was under by 3 MPH...  But, my speedo could have been wrong too.   She also told me that State Patrol does NOT need to use a radar...  This was reenforced once in traffic court.  Someone was trying to get out of a S.P. speeding ticket because the officer would not show the driver the radar gun.  The judge told the guy that WA State Patrol does NOT need to use a radar gun.   :o

I only hope they were both lying...

Well I hope that is wrong, but one of my friends was speeding and drunk with my sister and he got pulled over since he was going around 120 and the cop took him away but when they got to the police department his alcohol content was under .08 and they didn't have any record of him speeding since he was going so fast so they had to let him go. He was a very lucky guy. So I am assuming they do need evidence for a ticket, unless this whole story was a lie to pass time but I don't see that happening he was a very crazy guy.

laser jammers are already out.  Have one on my mustang.  Never thought of mounting one to my bike.   hmmmmm
Pilot 22.5, Mid 65 , Mains 147.5, Mixture screw 3.5 turns out
