Yep, finally got the carbs clean/back together/on today. Bike started right up immediately, even with 4 month old gas in it. Sputtered a bit at first, but I'm going to attribute that to bad gas, waiting to get some good stuff tomorrow. The battery is freshly charged, the tank looks clean to me, it'll be reattached tomorrow.

Getting the stock airbox on was a Buddha Loves You and a half, until I put some EVOO on the rubber boots to help them slide onto the carbs, then it was pretty easy. Except I still can't get the left side to mate up to the spot in the frame, so I can't get the bolt in. I figure having just the right side in is good enough for now, since I'll hopefully be doing a rejet/lunchbox soon. Hell, I'll need to rip the carbs apart again when Brian sends me the new screws, since I hate the crappy stock screws.

I'm leaving town tomorrow, unfortunately, so I won't be able to work on it until Monday. I've got new (to me) forks from an '89 that seem to be pristine. They'll match up perfectly with my clipons from an '89, modified to not hit the tank at full lock by none other than our own Turd Ferguson. I have to go out and get the screws to hold the bars in though, or I won't be doing much riding.

After Monday, the only thing the bike will need to be fully functioning are a new front tire, and a new chain. I can probably hold off on the chain, but the front tire is flat, and I don't know where the hole is/how bad it is/anything.

Cosmetically, the rear subframe is still screwed until I can save enough money to take it to Lee and have him straighten it for me so I can reattach the tail plastics.

I also started on Cafeboy's solo cowl today, I'll post the final results next week when I get home, with pictures and everything. I'll just say that it came in great shape, I finish sanded it, and have put about 4 coats of paint on it, and will probably do 3 more, and it's looks effing amazing! Cafeboy, I'll get you the cash for it ASAP, as I'm about to pick a new job from several offers.

An, I'll probably be sending you a PM re the Kat shock in a few weeks, again after I get my first coupla paychecks, I'll have some cash to sink into making the GS slightly better than new!

Man, I'm freakin excited.... pictures to come Monday or Tuesday

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

Air box boots ... you need to get the filter out and use your hands from inside the airbox.
EVOO ... aha ... you're a Rachel Ray fan ... dumbass ... She has an army of minions running behind the scenes putting in several man hours of work to make her 1/2 hour dinner parties ... Suggesting to the wife that she can whip some of those things up in 1/2 hour is a sure fire way to not get laid for a year ...
She's a bigger fake than Joan Rivers.
Cool.
