Ok my 05 as some of you know was laid down at the end of the summer and I've been upgrading it with exhaust, jets, windscreen, rearsets, (now thinking of LED's), and a few other things. I got the new plastic a long time ago for the lower left side and the decals showed up today. (www.oneidasuzuki.com rocks).

Does anyone have any advise on putting the decals on right the first time, shouldn't a body shop be able to do it quickly and nearly flawlessly? I'm just afraid of screwing it up and having to buy another set at $65 shipped....

Cheers,

Howie

any local performance shop for cars or bikes should beable to do it. also you should be able to find a graphics shop or tinting shop they can do it too.  i dont know if a body shop would take such a small order or if they would be fair on price for you either

The best way ive found to place decals on is this. Mix up a spray bottle of dish soap and warm water. Soak the entire plastic down with the spray. Spray the decal backing so it is wet. Now you should beable to slide the decal around on the plastic and get it where you want it. Push out all the bubbles and creases if there is any. Once the water/soap dries up the decal stays where u have it so make sure you get it in place fairly quick. You may want to use a bank card or something flat and plastic to push the bubbles or creases out.

We have put decals, pin stripes, lettering etc. on cars this way. Also have done some graphics kits on my motocross bikes like this. Works amazing and Ive never had a problem doing it this way.

You can buy professional stuff or take it to a shop but your going to $$$$.

Good Luck.

Barry.

Dude! That's such a great idea!!!
I'll steal that at some point.
If it comes out of your body you shouldn't be afraid to hold it in your hand! :o

Use this technique.

I work at a kart shop, often decaling karts, like this:

The only thing I have to add is use a few drops of johnson & johnson's baby shampoo instead of dish soap. It has basically no chemicals, so it won't break down the glue over time like basically everything else will.

Stupid hurts. Dress for the crash, not for the ride.

I thought the decals on the lower fairings were a thin aluminum, not your regular vinyl decals? :dunno_white:

Woooohoooo!!!! Decals came today.... Used the baby soap method with some warm water, a hair dryer and a credit card...(Don't know why I didn't think of that from my days tinting windows at www.kustomauto.net) But hey you all refressed my memory. Well she's all back together, mods are finished (besides thinking of a ignition advance, anyone know if you can do it on an 05?). The week after I bought her I dyno'd her, and next week god willing I'm taking her and the new 07 mustang convertible to the dyno. I just installed the chip, intake and exhaust on the stang....

Well all thanks for the advise, post crash she's good as new. I'll post pictures of both my babies in a day or two.

Cheers,
Howie
