Hey everyone,

I was making a right turn from level pavement down a hill, saw an oncoming car, and grabbed the brakes a little too hard.  The bike went down on the right side, and since it fell down the slope, it hit pretty hard.  I was barely rolling, so real harm done to me, or to the bike.  However, it was enough force to pop the base of the turn signal inside the fairing (if that makes sense).  So normally the fairing (GS500f) sits in a groove between the backing and the base of the turn signal.  There's a tiny crack in the fairing, which I'm guessing is how the base popped through. 

Anyone have this happen to them, or have any idea how to fix it, and pop the turn signal back to where it should be?  It functions just fine, but it rotates up when I'm riding from the vibrations, and looks all wonky.   Ugly.  Yuck.  I've thought about just replacing the stocks with flush signals, but I'd still have to deal with the problem, and I like that the stocks are really visible, since most drivers are too stupid to see motorcycles.  Advice?

It sounds like you may have sheared an alignment bit off. Although there is no detail in the pic...  click the drawing for a bigger version...


There was probably a small notch in the fairing mount hole. The turn sig probably had a bit of a tit that would stick into that notch. My guess is that the tit is sheared and the notch may even be broken out.

Try comparative anatomy...meaning take the other one off and see what is different.

EDIT - Looking at the 04+ cowlings, the holes looked squared off so perhaps an alignment bit isn't on these. All my GS's are 1990 so I can't view the mount directly.
