Looking for anyone to give me some advice. I just got my first bike GS500F a month ago.

The rear brake squeaks when I apply some pressure to it. The pad is good and does not need to be changed. Is there anything I can do to eliminate that sound?

Thanks.

This topic's been covered a lot. Type in rear brake squeak in the search box and there's lots of threads with good info to find.

Edit : And welcome, the GS is a great bike and with ever GS purchase you get a boat load of character for free, like squeaky brakes - yeah it normal mine does it too

Patient: Doctor, it hurts when I do this.
Doctor: Then don't do that.

The rear brake on the GS is loud.  The more you ride, the more front brake you'll start using.  Most riders don't use the rear brake much, if any on the street.  I wouldn't worry about the noise.  After a few thousand miles, it will go away, and be replaced with other strange noises coming from the engine.

Double check your rear wheel alignment, just to be sure.

Could be from lack of use also, if the bike was parked for a while, and may just go away.
Not the brightest crayon in the box, but I can still be seen from a distance.  ;P

Take your pad out that Sets on the Piston and put a Piece of Electrical Tape on the Back. That may Cut down a little of the Squeek.Or take yor pads and Rough the Lining up with a little Sandpaper andbreak the Glaze on the Rotor Surface with some Scotchbrite. :thumb:
