Wow, and they should also feet because criminals often use them to walk up to (or run at) their victims.
Rich, RIP.

This makes me thankful that I live in a democracy

It would be even better if we live in a democracy where we don't feel a need to bash other countries just because their laws are different than ours......

If people care to read the original Chinese article, the ban is nothing more than just a way to keep the pollution level down by keeping the motorcycle out of the a small area of the downtown core (not the city itself), which is very similar to the traffic control/restriction in most major European cities.

Same with the comment about the censorship on ebay. Anyone who care to check the fact will see that there are still over 5000 motorcycle related listings on ebay China.

I have been to the city a few times and I personally know a few people who live there. As far as I can tell most people *who lived there* wanted the motorcycle out of the downtown core. I am not sure why it is considered not democracy when the people lived there want to have a law to address their concern.  :dunno_white: From some of comments it seems to me that people somehow thought democracy means 'Approved by American'.......

Quote from: EncartaThe structure of China's government follows a Leninist model of one-party rule (see Communism) established by revolutionary leader Mao Zedong in 1949. Under the Leninist system, the mandate to govern originates not in elections but in the ruling party's armed seizure of power. The claim to legitimacy rests on the ruling party's assertion that it serves the interests of the people. Russian revolutionary leader Vladimir Lenin first established this system in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), and it was later adopted by or imposed on many other socialist states. In China, the ruling party is the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which came to power in 1949 and established the People's Republic of China.

No doubt there are good things about living there... but no doubt you can't truly speak your mind either. I went to S. Korea once and even though it's a democracy, I could feel what it might be like living in perhaps a communist country... conformity is the name of the game. The US isn't as free as some other countries no matter what you may think, but it's still the best place in my opinion. Thank God I'm here.

What other countries did you have in mind?

I said in another thread that there were no bargains in the current motorcycle market but I forgot about those Chinese imports.  Those four stroke MX bikes have piqued my interest again.  Hmmm.
