I wanna get a new bike (new rider)  Taking msf this week.  How much would be a good price for this bike or even fair?

Need advice quick.  Someone wants to buy it for 1100 and I'd have to beat that I'm guessing unless buyer backs out

NiceGuysFinishLast

Looks decent, I guess.. I'd pay maybe $1200..

Trade in is $1055

Retail is $1625

According to KBB.com

Obviously, with the damage, it's worth less... if you could get it for $1350 or less, I'd say do it... Tanks can be had on ebay for cheap, from time to time, there's one on there right now, I believe. Take the free jacket and helmet, but don't use the helmet, I'd never trust a used helmet.. buy one that fits. Same with the jacket, if it doesn't fit well.

Good luck

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

Oh, I was checking NADA and it said bike was worth 1055 in good and 795 low retail.   So I was originally planning on paying around 800 since its been damaged and has 40k miles on it.  Should I be nervous about a bike that has that many miles?  Says I need to replace the tires soon too.  I have to beat the other person by tomorrow if I'm going to get it

If it were me buying it,$500 bucks top, you would have to drop some serious cash to make that bike look good again, and who knows hwo well mechanically it is.

cheesey tape job on the exhaust, ugly mirrors, 40k miles, AND a messed up tank? $500 is generous. esp. since that tank is messed up bad.

some may say "oh, the tape and mirrors can be removed" but you know what i say to that? :flipoff: you gotta buy new mirrors and the exhaust will probably have ugly on it from the tape. thats a lot of time and effort. My time is expensive...

I paid $1200 for my '91 and it only had 10k and didn't have any scratches or dents or anything. (until i dumped it, of course...) I would keep looking. Don't fall prey to the i-might-lose-it-if-i-don't-buy-it-now monster. Take your time, know what you want, and don't settle for anything less.

I spent 4 months searching for my car and looked at 30 of the same kind of car until i found exactly what i wanted. besides, i paid less for a better car than those previous 30...

ohgood

man, you NEED to invest some time in searching http://www.craigslist.org .

SERIOUSLY!

you can find gs5's and ex5's (ninja) all day long that are mechanically trustworthy, and not beat to shaZam! for a grand.

i wouldn't touch that bike (HELLLLLO FRAME JITTERS!) for anything other than parts myself.
here's my list of why to keep looking:

1) crashed bike
2) alot of miles on a crashed bike
3) an ugly tank that MIGHT be gasoline tight, on you guessed it - a crashed bike
4) he did a poor fix em up paint job (asthestics mean nothing to ME really) on a crashed bike

other than that, you could offer the guy/girl $300 bucks as a parts bin, when you find a gs in NICE condition for 1- 1 1/2 G's.

my 2 cents :)

I don't know what kind of magical land you live it, but it's definitely not Seattle.  You're lucky if you see one GS every three months on CL around here.

currently tampa, fl

i bought my gs just outside atlanta,ga and there were 5-6 ex's and 4-5 gs's all within 10 minutes of where i bought it.

in tampa, i see a gs getting swapped/sold every few days.

the ex's are a little less common for sale. guess the crotch rocket styling means they're trashed/rashed alot faster or something.

sv's are all over the place too. saw a 98 for 2g's this morning. didn't look bad. 30k miles though.

Wow.  I guess you do live in a magical land.  Trying to find a gs up here sucks.

+1

I wouldnt have any of it.

oppa637

Thanks guys for preventing me from making a huge mistake.  I bought a ninja 250 instead for 900.  It has a few scratches but otherwise in really good shape.  Its a 95 with 16k miles.
