Newy Ork city ... great place to visit, except that those that work here all live 3 hours away cos that's all they can afford.

Ah you're safe then Srinath, and yes....its as bad as Alaska in some parts of upstate...mostly western though. There's places that got 100inches of snow!!!! Luckily..we only have 2...

I have visions of a disheveled man in oil-stained clothes wandering the streets with a disposable camera and a wine bag (wtf?) in his back pocket.

Close ... Very very close. But this is what I have learnt so far.
They have a lot of stuff underground. Its all terrible, I always stay above ground.
You never know where the underground's been. If it was any good, it be above ground don't you think.
Then, sometimes roads will smoke, lots and lots of smoke, usually its because something is on fire, so I'll run away from it.
I went to canal street. Its only like 4 miles. But it took 20 minutes in the underground. Once again that proves underground stuff is useless.
There is no canal in canal street, and Broadway is pretty narrow. Nothing like I 77 through charlotte. Now that's a real road.
Also Avenue of the america, doesn't go to america, it just goes and ends in somewhere.
There are also no highways in NY. So It must be very slow driving there, wonder why they don't have highways ??
Manhattan is all island like, so I wear the island gear, Hawaiian shirts and flip flops.
Its also separated from US by water, but they don't have their own money. They are into US money so you're good there.
They talk funny and don't understand "Y'all" or have sweet tea ... and they walk on ice. Otherwise people are nice.
OK I have more thoughts but you can ask me later.
Cool.

Haha, good old Oswego.  I graduated from there about 2 years ago.  Most we saw at one time over there was about 5 feet that closed the college for 2 days.  But I was just talking to a friend still up there today. They have 80+ inches and counting. Thats almost 7 feet, with a prediction of 2-3 feet more.  Good thing the buildings are connected by tunnels.
