I'm curious to know which gauges from other bikes will fit the GS. Does anyone know of other bikes I can grab them from? I found an old post that referred to old Katana's and oil cooled Gixxers. Kinda vague. I checked out the current crop on eBay, but nothing looks like a good replacement (at least in pictures). Anyone done a swap? How about aftermarket gauges? Can I just go down to Autozone and find some gauges the right size to swap in? How about these universal jobs found at Oldbikebarn.com and the like?

I dropped my Speedo tonite while doing some "dash remodeling". Smashed it up a bit. But I'm just generally dissatisfied with the gauges in general. Any ideas would be great. Specific info would be even better.

try buying an aftermarket gauge of the same diameter and buy one that uses a speedo cable AKA mechanical speedo. you can uses such gauges as autometer I would think.
1991 Suzuki GS500E , a bunch of crap done to it :)

Not sure about others being a direct replacement....but I am in the process of installing 99-02 SV650 gauges. Everything is connected except for the tach. Something is wierd though...there is an extra wire not indicated in the wiring diagram. The speed pick-up is a modified SV unit to fit the GS axle.
Common sense in not very common.

Direct swap in, and white dial faces to boot ... VX800 ... Yea I know, rare sheite. The whole dash panel off it will fit.

Yeah, but the indicated redline is significantly lower.  Yeah, I'm nit-picky like that.

If you need a tach, not the cable style, I have a spare one hanging around I could part away with.
