si i put the stock air box back on and the tank, put all the hoses back in place(as far as i know 3 on the air box and 4 on the tank) cranked the bike but didnt kick over "dope" forgot to open the fuel shutoff valve so i opened it turned to prime then cranked it again nothing, do i have to wait a bit so the fuel fills the bowls? before i took off the tank i shut the valve off and ran the bike till it died then cranked it a few times to make sure the gas was all out. what did i do wrong or do i have to wait till the fuel builds up again and if so shouldnt the fuel be sucked in if im cranking it? let me know whats up please

any number of things can be wrong.  Try starting in all the petcock positions and try with the choke on and off.   Check and make sure you have fire.  Have you checked your safety switches and what not?  Why did you put the airbox back on?  What was the problem before?

tried all that. i took the air filter off to check it and clean it and i took the box off to check the carbs but ended up leaving the carbs alone.

well if she ran before and you put it all back together propperly, then keep cranking.

Jarrett

Make sure you have everything put back together properly.  Take it apart and put it back together if you still can't figure out what's wrong.

Don't run it dry the way you described.  There is a drain nipple under each float.  Make sure your battery isn't dead from all the cranking.

Put the petcock on pri, wait 30 seconds, and then fire it up.

so i took off the air cleaner box and put the tank back on opened the drains under the bowls to check if i have fuel and i do so i cranked it again and nothing i took off the spark plug on the left side of the bike(the shifter side) and put it next to a ground and cranked it i have spark but not much. im confused the bike ran fine before and now wont even start im about ready to give up and give it to the dealer and let them fix it but im sure its something simple and i can do it myself i used to be an auto mech and am able to fix it but im not sure whats wrong.

Did you turn the tank mounted petsock slot verticle?

How long has it been since the bike ran? I.e., do you need to charge your battery?

Also, I present you with a gift: "...............................,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,........................,,,,,,,,,,,,,,," There should be enough there to last you for a few posts. Let me know when you need more.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

If you leave the drain in the botton of the carb open, will fuel continue to come out if you have the petcock on prime? Or did you just see if a little came out and then closed it again?

Make sure the tank petcock is fully open, (it's a pain in the ass) and re run all your fuel lines, they are really overly complicated and also a pain in the ass and easy to screw up.

And the last thing, if it worked before you took it apart, don't start messing with other things! you'll just make more problems. If you just took off the tank and changed your air filter, then it's probally the fuel lines/valves, don't start messing with other stuff.

the drain on the bottom of the carbs are colsed i just cracked them to see if i have fuel and the fuel lines should be fine their is only two of them how hard is it to put two back and i marked the hoses so i didnt mix them up. im goin to check the currenc tgoing to the plugs i think its too weak i have plenty of fuel but little spark i could barley see the spark through the gap

It's not a matter of putting them back right, it's a matter of routing them right. It's easy to pinch a fuel line when you're replacing the tank.

Here's a few more: ................................,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,..................... let me know when you're out.
