Wow, I think I scrapped pegs for the first time today, I think....except the gear-shifter and rear-brake pedal was scraping the ground. Are those supposed to hit before pegs do? Freaked me out the first because I could feel my toe rubbing the ground.

buy new/aftermarket rear sets, or hang off more.

I was practacing slow small circles a couple of weeks ago and rubbed my foot.  I had heard that you can lay a bike over a lot further than you think you can and they were right.  I wasn't going 7 mph, I was amazed.

Thats a GS at about 15 mph in a parking lot (that one is 12thmonkey)

you can achieve much MUCH higher lean angles than you think

kinda pisses me off everytime I get on a stock GS or EX because I can't seem to keep the bastards off the pavement...and I don't think I'm pushing very hard.

I wont lie im still scared to lean it but so far, infact I dont lean that far at all or atleast I dont think so. I think im scared because I had to lay down the bike one time and it really freeken hurt in the middle of traffic.

Yeah, stock GS pegs are low....too low for anything other than casual cruising.

Hah, I perfected my lean angle on Dave's bike when I was riding it (until I totaled it)... now I'll be going back to my bike, and the case guards scare me.. they stick out farther than fairings, and I'm worried about how much they'll inhibit my lean up in the mountains..

just be glad your motor isn't whats scraping the pavement then...

Or your lower frame rails. Some guys here in Texas ride their FZ1s at the track and get such crazy lean angles that their frames scrape the ground. Regularly.

My centerstand scrapes first, I'm 200lbs so I need to put some stiffer springs in it. Oh well.

My centerstand used to scrape...  I installed a Katana Rear shock and haven't had the problem...

But, I also started hanging off some....  It really helps.

You don't actually have to hit your knee on the pavement...  But, the hanging off concept is there.....  In reality, you don't even need to scoot your ass off the seat, even leaning your upper body into the turn helps.

yeah nolan...put your weight over the side and it takes some stress off the suspension.

I usually scrape the outside of my toes first, but I don't have the stock GS setup and I have a tendency to ride with my toes splayed out.  Funny, considering I always have my toes on the pegs.

But serouisly I only ever scrape the centre stand never the pegs and track days show me if I lean off any more I've fallen off rubber, tyres scuffed all the way to the side of the tread front and rear but I have pretty firm suspension which I like except along bumpy roads

Here is a picture of my son at a track day (his second) with a stock GS except for a Katana rear shock and Bridgestone race rubber.  It still has the sidestand, centerstand and stock pegs.  He never scraped anything all day.  So hang off when you start scraping stuff!

Yeah, I know all about hanging off the bike and I haven't scraped since. It just took a little wake up call 

Once the hard parts (centerstand) start scraping, you're about to lever the tire off the ground and start eating pavement! But I do need to do some work to my suspension anyways.
