well it finally happened. went down for the first time. My boss and I discovered a new road(twistys up the ying yang) it was great til a 15mph turn came and I didn't expect it. The bike and I slid a little ways and I was a little slow getting up, just rattled. Damages I guess is not that bad: broken right bar end mirror, left control housing busted, dented tank but no leak and some other minor scratches. Had to dry clutch all the way home, 75miles back home. The thing that pissed me and my boss off was a couple of burly HD riders passing us up on the way homee..lol....I miss my bike already :(  :( ...Oh yeah by the way my boss rides a Hayabusa.....drooooool.

Sorry to hear about your down, man.  At least it's out of the way now, though.  Any crash you get up from isn't bad, but I hope you are okay.  Sounds like damage to the bike is relatively cheap, you may even be able to get some of the stuff from people here for cheap or free.  Make sure to post a full damage report.  What gear were you wearing?  We all will appreciate it if you will put a report about how your safety gear performed here.  Most of all man, check your body functionality.  If something is sore, doesn't move right, or just seems wierd (like your foot being backwards) make sure to have it checked out, don't overlook anything.  Now that all that is out of the way, heal up from whatever wounds you have (mental and physical), repair your gs, and get back in that saddle soon!

I'm just a little sore today, got a few bruises other than that ok. I'm gonna need to replace my left control housin and left grip also the clamp looking thingy that holds the stock mirror. I'm either gonna replace my tank or try to get it repaired whatever is cheaper........Thankyou guys for your concerns and I can't wait to ride again...... :)

by the way the gear that I was wearing was: icon helmet, joe rocket atomic jacket , alpinestar sp3 gloves other than that regular jeans, CAT work boots.......Now I know how important these things are,"I will never ride without my gear ever"

That sucks.
On my way home a couple of months ago, I was in my car and saw two young but big guys riding Harleys. I heard an awful screech and looked in my rearview mirror to see that one of them had gone down. Traffic was bad and I had already passed them but I turned around to make sure they were okay. The guy who went down was pissed! His friend seemed the nicer/calmer of the two and said they'd be alright. Only then did I leave.
Anyhoo...glad you are okay.  :thumb:
Blah blah blah...

Funny thing ... most harley guys ride live they are invincible...(not invisible...) one of them even said You know HD's are involved in faaar less accidents than Jap bikes...so they are much safer...What...talk about facetious reasoning...This rock keeps away tigers...Well Do you see any tigers around...so it must work well...Cruisers are safer in general...due to their inability to change direction too quick and their overall lack of power and reluctance to pick up speed...But of that lot HD's are typically worse than the average cruiser...In the wreckers I used to go to...Sport bikes and HD were all they used to have...their cruiser collection was nearly 0 outside of HD's and they were a jap bike place where parts are concerned...
Cool.

See I don't think one type of bike is safer than the other, what it all depends on is how the person driving the bike is.  Alot of time a sport bike is associated with a young male that is usually less experienced in riding and usually likes to show off.  And HD is associated with older males.   :guns:  Both of these are stereo-types of the bike world.  :o (imagine that)   It really doesn't matter what you drive its how you drive it, with both motorcycles and vehicles in general.  Accidents happen everyday, we just try and be safe as much as possible.

Almost my turn today!

Riding in traffic is where I encounter most of my near misses.  Today, the cars in front of me braked suddenly because traffic was stopping at a light and not everyone was paying attention.  I saw the cars braking hard and did the same but the guy/gal behind was not paying as close attention.  I was watching in my rear view as he came rushing up behind.  I decided to pull up on the left side of the car in front as the one in back was screaching tires!  Luckily there was no crash. :thumb:

That safety course I took really paid off.  They trained us to do that.  Although I do have many years of experience driving cars and avoided similar crashes.

Whew! My heart was pounding a little!
