This is why smoking is bad for you...

So...  It all started one night about a month ago...  I was outside my condo smoking when I heard a FRIGGEN HUGE crash...  It scared the crap out of me.  I ran in for my cell and called 911 so they could send a car (I figured someone was dead from the sound of it).  As I was on the phone reporting it, I quickly walked around so I could see if anyone was still alive...  I saw the guy banging on his steering wheel trying to get the horn to stop honking and he got out of his car...  I yelled over, "Are you OK?"  He replied, "Yeah."

I told the 911 operator that he wasn't hurt and where it happened...  She took my name and that was that...  A while later some other guys were out there talking to the guy and the cops showed up...  And I didn't think of it again.

Until...

I was at work, smoking, when my phone rang...  "King Co Prosecutor... Yadda Yadda..."  I thought, "OMFG, what did I get caught doing?  Did someone call in my plates?"  No...  It wasn't me... Phew...  They just wanted to ask me a few questions about the accident.  I told them that I didn't actually SEE anything, I only HEARD the accident...  And I didn't think of it again.

Until...

I was out smoking and I checked my mail...  I got a letter from King County District Court...  I opened it to find that I've been Subpoenaed as a Witness for the prosecutor...  And if I don't show up, they'll issue a warrant for my arrest...  YAY!!!

So, since then I've talked to the ADA again and the Defence attorney on the phone, both times telling them that I only heard the accident...  But, they still want me in court 'cause I'm 50% of the witnesses...

And the moral of the story is...  Smoking is bad for you, 'cause that means you'll be outside more and might hear an accident and call 911, only to be called to court under threat of arrest...

Either that or the moral is, call 911 only after  you see if anyone is hurt.  :icon_confused:

I'd testify against both parties...surely you can get someone hanged...

The one guy ran the stop sign/light.  the other guy made an illegal right turn from the left turn lane.  they collided.  they're both f%&ked.

That has got to be one of the best anti-smoking posts I have seen.  Nice write up... :thumb:

Well, I didn't mention all of the details, but it was one guy vs two parked cars...  So, there's only one rope.

only one rope...ha...I'd make damned sure it's used.  You can be a hostile witness.

YAY!!!  NO COURT FOR ME!!!  YAY!!!

He plead guilty after his lawyer talked to me...  I guess he was trying to say he wasn't driving.
